4.0 out of 5 stars At the Confluence of Metaphysics and Quantum Physics., May 5, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wholeness Principle: Dynamics of Unity Within Science, Religion, and Society (Paperback)
Anna Lemkow's premise is interesting though not new--that science and religion are moving toward common ground. Both ways of understanding the Universe, she claims, may have far more in common than currently understood. In light of the fantastic discoveries and thought experimentrs in the field of quantum physics, notably about the "interconnectedness" of matter and energy, Lemkow poses an interesting scientific-theosophic premise--namely, that the ancient Law of Karma, along with rebirth, and perhaps the so-called Akashik collective memory bank of consciousness, might well fit into the quantum physical reality of our universe. Perhaps the ancients may have been on to something but without the benefit of today's sophisticated scientific tools? Regardless, the book has its weaknesses. Lemkow attempts to cover too much philosophical and metaphysical ground in too few pages and her approach is biased from her metaphysical/theosophical background. She berates Newtonian science as blind "scientism" (the religion of science)yet makes no similar criticism of blind mysticism (the science of religion). But overall, I liked the book. It is thought-provoking and gently weaves a theosophical viewpoint throughout. I don't agree with all the author's ideas, but then who could? Still, for the scientist or the mystic in me, it was a stimulating read. The book also serves as a roadmap (including interesting sidebar excerpts from other related works)in which to begin a personal exploration of the mysterious confluence of ancient meta physics and modern quantum physics

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I have ever read., April 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wholeness Principle: Dynamics of Unity Within Science, Religion, and Society (Paperback)
There are so many ideas and thoughts packed into each chapter of this book, that digesting any more than a paragraph at a time can be too much. Every word contributes to the "wholeness" of the book. It is very well written. Part of the joy of reading this book is having a tablet nearby to record the reader's own contemplations and aspirations for further study and research.
