About the Author

Terry Kay has published several books, including AFTER ELI, winner of the 1981 Best Fiction Award from the Georgia Council of Authors, and the heartwarming story TO DANCE WITH THE WHITE DOG, which was made into a CBS Hallmark Hall of Fame movie starring Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy. A contributing editor to Atlanta magazine, Kay is a native Georgian who now lives in Lilburn, Georgia.

This book was my first experience reading Terry Kay and it led me to his many other wonderful books. He is an excellent storyteller and provides the reader with an interesting version of the shepards on Christmas night. I have shared this book with children and adults of all ages. They all love the story. I have turned the story into a Readers Theatre format and my family performs this story at our family gathering for Christmas. I think this book is a book that all families should share each year.

Terry Kaye does it again. This story, sprinkled with some fiction, is beautifully told and has very nice, colorful illustrations throughout. It's a must read for the children and/or grandchildren at Christmastime.
