Recently got the chance to check out some of G-Unit's latest music with the "Return of the Body Snatchers Vol. 1" mixtape. Fan's of G-Unit can expect there sophomore album "Lock and Load" (originally titled Shoot 2 Kill) to arrive later this year, in the meantime mixtapes like this provide a preview of things to come. A free version of this one is available on 50's site. Original Guerrilla Unit members 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks & Tony Yayo are featured throughout this release, with no sign of adopted member Young Buck, or any other affiliates. Lots of rumors out on Young Buck's future with G-Unit, not one to speculate though. This release has a couple of highlight track's which remind me of when G-Unit was young and hungry, 50 provides a solid intro with "Like A Dog" & shines on the the powerful "The Mechanic" - one of the best track's I have heard from 50 in awile. All three members hold things down well on the head nodding "Rider 4 Real". G-Unit does their own rendition of Playaz Circle "Paper Chaser" with limited success. "You Need Me" is a track I did not notice on early listen's but have been getting replay out of recently - 50 sings away at the beginning of a track which slowly accelerates itself into a potential heater - 50 call's this one a sample of things to come. G-Unit has a couple of track's to and about the ladies, with "Make Me Feel Good" probably being one of the better ones & "Bottom Girl" being of the worst. Lloyd Banks closes the mixtape off on solo with the last full length track in "I'm Back". Fan's of G-Unit may want to check out "Return of the Body Snatchers Vol. 1".
