5.0 out of 5 stars Don't overlook this early 90s hip-hop gem, December 15, 2010

Tag Team was a one-hit wonder by any definition of the term, but don't let that discourage you from adding this album to your collection.

Whoomp! (There It Is) is a terrific house party album in the "hip-pop" style of the early-to-mid 1990s. It's a feel-good album heavy on bass and beats, but the Atlanta duo display competent lyrical skills, too.

DC the Brain Supreme (Cecil Glenn) and Steve Roll'n (Steve Gibson) laid the groundwork for what would become Atlanta's "Dirty South" sound a few years later, paving the way for acts such as Lil' Jon & The Eastside Boyz, Ying Yang Twins and Ludacris. It's a shame the ATL duo couldn't hang around long enough to ride the wave they set in motion.

Here's the track listing:

01 - Whoomp! (There It Is)
02 - You Go Girl
03 - Free Style
04 - Just Call Me DC
05 - It's Somethin'
06 - Get Nasty
07 - Bring It On
08 - Funkey
09 - Gettin' Phat
10 - Bobyahead!
11 - Wreck Da Set
12 - Drop 'Em
13 - Kick Da Flow
