5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic , Yet Well Aged Comedy !
This 1986 comedy never misses or loses it's comical beat (not even in 2003) !It is still one of my favorite comedies from the 80's. Whenever I view this tape now in the 21st century,oh boy, does it ever bring back memories of high school and the absurdly and fashionably challenged of the 80's ! So, of course the film will look simply outdated;but, so what ?! The plot's...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bavarian Luminati?
Bavarian Luminati? Not very believable. Anyone whose studied Lara Cross will have a hard time swallowing that one. East LA Latinos counseling rich ladies to be careful with their pets since Vietnamese may eat their Pomeranians? "Their hind legs look so fresh and juicy". Like I haven't hear that joke before. Feigning sexual intercourse with Grouse (only the uninitiated...

5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic , Yet Well Aged Comedy !, January 12, 2003
This review is from: Whoopee Boys [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This 1986 comedy never misses or loses it's comical beat (not even in 2003) !It is still one of my favorite comedies from the 80's. Whenever I view this tape now in the 21st century,oh boy, does it ever bring back memories of high school and the absurdly and fashionably challenged of the 80's ! So, of course the film will look simply outdated;but, so what ?! The plot's not very deep either. Just a simple tale of two guys going to charm school for a little bit of social climbing and to see who gets the girl (away from a rich goon)...It's the entire cast of dysfunctional and socially challenged misfits taking ettiquette lessons that is simply worth watching over and over ( Marsha Wharfield from Night Court fame as the cop with an attitude/aggressive problem) !

Whoopee Boys reminds me of what made Paul Rodriguez a hysterical and very talented, funny Latino comedian. His pure rawness and raunchiness keeps the viewer's attention!Another comical character of curiosity is the nerd of nerds actor Eddie Deezen who played Eddie Lipschitz as a geek who really made the the hysterics of going to charm school complete with Rodriguez' antics. What ever happened to Deezen? As for the other actors, unfortunately Denholm Elliot(Bavarian Luminati instructor) passed away a few years ago and was better known for his role as the kooky Marcus Brody in the Indiana Jones films. Michael O'Keefe would later star as Roseann Bar's brother in-law married to sister Jackie of the Roseann Show.He later married singer Bonnie Raitt in real life.

Yes, the comedy is worth having this put on dvd. Shame on the studios for not doing it ! Those of us growing up as teens when this film came out will still truly appreciate it's crass humor as well as have a flood of 80's memories. Check out when the guys crash the Palm Beach party held in the honor of "Ralph","one of the greatest minds of our time" heh heh...and don't forget the guys dressed up like Miami Vice rejects for the memorial/party!...

I don't know about anyone else's copy of this film on VHS, but I still get a kick out of the B- movie preview of "Girls' Night Out" with again the crazy music and clothing of the 80's !...The preview shows a young and sexy Daphne Zuniga, Virginia Madsen, and some unknown 80's girl named Cindy Gibb...Wow, truly a sign of the times...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fell Down Laughing, May 3, 2008
This review is from: The Whoopee Boys (DVD)
If you have not seen this movie do yourself a favor and check it out. You need to be able to laugh at anything though as this movie is so non P.C. it hurts to laugh. This is by far one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I have waited for this on DVD for quite some time and am very happy to see it coming out.

You will definitely find yourself repeating some of the catch phrases from this movie but I warn you.....there is alot of profanity in this movie so be prepared.

Overall this is one of the very few movies I give a 5 star to but it deserves it. It is nice to see a movie (even though it is from the 80's) that was not afraid to take the glove and slap the face of all the b.s. P.C. people on this planet.

I have had this movie on VHS for years, and I probably have watched it a million times, and still laugh myself silly. It's the zaniest, silliest, most hysterical movie I have ever seen. It is too funny for it's own good, without being absurd. I highly recommend it!!

I wholeheartedly agree with every other reviewer on this page. This movie is fantastic. Who do we have to beat up to to get this thing on dvd. One of the funniest movies ever...the portion of the movie spent at charm school is 20 minutes of nonstop laughter. When barney shoots the orange peel into humping's mouth...you have to rewind that and watch it in slow motion about 10 times...the faces he makes will kill you!

I thought I was the only one, but apparently I have found the other 28 people in the world who love this movie. Why this did not become a cult classic I'll never know.

"Hey spartacus, what are you in for?"

5.0 out of 5 stars Please come out with a friggin DVD!, January 11, 2005
This review is from: Whoopee Boys [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am writing this quickly to just say that this is one of the movies from my childhood that I watched and enjoyed countless times. Very crude slapstick humor, but there is nothing wrong with it and in this movie it works admirably. Paul Rodriguez at his absolute best. Writing anything more in depth would be somewhat of a farce since I have not seen the movie in at least six years and do not wants to pretend like I know it top to bottom. Hopefully somebody in control of the rights to this movie actually realizes there is money to be made by putting this on DVD, for my life would be that much more complete and so would many others by the sound of the rhetoric found here. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Where's the DVD?, June 28, 2004
This review is from: Whoopee Boys [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I know about ten people that love this movie! I am one of them. I wish they would put it on dvd! That would be way better, but I guess for now I will have to settle for the video! This movie is so goofy and silly, and that's what I love about it. One of the funniest movies from the eighties that I have seen. A real cult classic with all of my friends!

I remembered seeing this back in the 80's. Made em laugh then as well as now. I bought the vhs from a used movie store. Kept checking back through the years for a dvd version. FINALLY! pre-ordered about 1 1/2 months ago. Got it in, and I think it's still great for some laughs! Paul Rod-ri-quesz, O'Keefe, Marsha Warfield, Eddie Deezan just to name a few, is a well rounded bunch of nuts! Made for men but ladies like it too!..8-)

Scott out...

5.0 out of 5 stars Loud, rude, coarse sportsmen!, November 8, 2006

I remember this movie vividly from back in the day, I must have watched it 20 times on cable. I still make references from this movie to this day. I thought of it today and wanted to see if it was available on dvd and I was pretty shocked to see that it is not, especially considering some of the drivel that is available. It's a funny movie that I would like to see again. I would buy this on DVD if it becomes available.

5.0 out of 5 stars RETRO 80's - Gotta Love this Movie, December 17, 2005
By
Wilma Waggadagger (Upper Buttcrack, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Whoopee Boys [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Anybody who grew up in the 80's will LOVE this movie. It's a timeless classic that NEVER fails to bring full-on belly laughs to the viewer. I was recently at a dinner party with people I didn't know. I didn't particularly like the host very much, until he asked me what my favourite movie of all time was. When I said "Whoopee Boys", my husband kicked me under the table and whispered somewhat menacingly to me to pull up my collar (to hide my Redneck heritage!). To his surprise (and my open glee) the host started quoting lines at me! We howled with laughter!

This truly is funny stuff that NEVER loses its appeal.

Paul Rodriguez is at his best in this movie - an absolute must for the fans, or the collector who loves the 80's. Also check out the late, great Denholm Elliot. A man now lost to us - don't let this part of his work pass into obscurity.

It's a crying shame that this movie is not available on DVD - if anyone knows who we can write to to pressure the studios into releasing this one, let me know.

IT DESERVES TO BE ON DVD!
