Book Description

Wicked Women Anthology July 1, 2005
Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed?Hannah. Geena. Della. Once, they were three naughty teen debutantes packed off to a tough love summer camp that promised to make bad girls good again. Now, they're together again and more "wicked" than ever - but this time for a good cause. They run their own detective agency, and everything they ever learned at survival camp - that's everything - comes in very, very handy...Black Widow: Important safety tip No. 1: Don't get too fond of a man who might be a hired assassin. Always a good plan - unless the guy is Damon Connelly, a total Heathcliff in a James Bond car. What's P.I. Hannah "Nan" Harrington-Scott to do? For starters, try to find out why he's staking out the same mega-crook billionaire she is. Then, keep her eyes trained on him at all times. Ha! No toughie there. And if Nan just happens to get caught searching his Maserati...and he just happens to insist on frisking her...well, she can always lie back and enjoy the ride...Man with a Past: Cabot Vendermeer III was the boy in the penthouse next door, until he was accused of murder and long Island heiress Geena Cole robbed her piggy bank to help him escape. That was ten years ago, and Geena's almost stopped dreaming about him. Almost. Now, Cabot's come out of hiding, and he wants Geena to clear his name. But can Geena do it, and does she want to? Because this time, she could lose everything, including her heart and maybe her life...Love Bites: Delia was the baddest of the bad, but that was before she became a Camp Wilderness success story and married into a life Cinderella would envy. Now, she's a bored, insecure socialite in need of a good job and a better man - and Nan and Geena have just the mission. Ben Michaelson is a playboy rumored to have killed his last paramour, and well-mannered Delia is the perfect operative to smoke him out. Free of her Fifth Avenue restraint, Delia's inner helicat comes blazing to life, and Ben has no idea what's about to bite him hard...

From Romantic Times Book Review V V V V When three naughty teen debutantes grow up and turn into three naughty detectives, the wicked fun begins. Hanna, Geena and Delia are chasing wily criminals and hot lovers in this latest "Wicked" women Whodunit. Smart dialogue and sassy heroines make this provocative collection shine.

After P.I. Hannah spots a sexy, mysterious man staking out her crooked billionaire suspect, she puts her talents to work to uncover his secrets in "Wicked Widow." His dossier reveals that he’s Damon, a hired hitman and rapist. Unfortunately, he’s also the man who tempted Hannah into tossing our her "no casual sex" rule.

Ten years ago, teenage Geena helped her first love run from a murder charge. Now he needs her P.I. expertise to clear his name. This "Man With a Past" still holds Geena’s heart, but unless she can find the real murderer, they have no future together.

In "Love Bites," fledgling P.I. Delia is out to nail Ben, a philanthropist accused of murdering a hooker. Her assignment takes an unexpected turn when she falls for Ben. Now, she must use her investigative skills to figure out if the suspect in her bed is a cold-blooded murderer or just an innocent victim. Susan Mitchell

5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous who-done-it anthology, June 29, 2005
This review is from: Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed?: A Wicked Women Whodunit Anthology (Wicked Women Anthology) (Paperback)
"Wicked Widow". On Long Island, Mathilde Sims hired Women-Tek private Eye Hannah "Nan" Harrington-Scott to investigate her wealthy husband Rupert when she notices that a James Bond clone is doing likewise. She decides checking out Damon Connelly is more fun especially when he reciprocates by inspecting her with enough heat to melt her clothing off.

"Man with a Past". A decade ago teen Geena Cole helped Cabot Vandermeer III escape town before he is arrested as a killer. He has come back with a need to prove his innocence and a greater desire to kiss the neighbor who helped him flee. Cab hires private eye Geena to find proof that he is not a murderer though his real motive is winning Geena.

"Love Bites". Delia Petrocelli hates her life as a boring socialite married to a wealthy loser. Geena assigns her to investigate whether Ben Michaelson killed his last lover as the victim's sister insists. As she stirs her mark's juices, she falls in love with him, but the evidence seems to point towards his guilt, which could mean he might kill his next paramour, her.

These three former bad girls turn wicked women investigative romances are fun to follow because the female stars and the men they nab make for a fun fine time for the audience. It will not take a sleuth to know that Gemma Bruce has provided a fabulous who-done-it anthology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accolades for female PI's!, October 28, 2005

Gemma Bruce's three novellas are page turners! Three wild debs reform at an interesting boot camp and turn their skills into money-making detective work. In the course of their work, each encounters a sexy love interest and all
s well that ends well. Would I recommend this page-turner? And how! Especially if you like gutsy, sexy women who have spurned the idle life of the rich in order to do something worthwhile. My kind of gals. I'm looking forward to Bruce's next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Who's been sleeping in my bed? starts off with a bang, slows to a whimper, and climaxes in a satisfactory ending, October 26, 2005

This review is from: Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed?: A Wicked Women Whodunit Anthology (Wicked Women Anthology) (Paperback)
The three stories in Who's been sleeping in my bed? are about three female P.I.s that have their own P.I. business called Women Tek. The three met as teenagers at Camp Wilderness, where they were sent to make these "bad girls good again." Although all three stories were written by the same author, Gemma Bruce, they were written with various success.

The first story, Wicked Widow, is the best of the three. It has a good plot and sexy and fun characters. It does not have as many erotic scenes as most stories in this series of anthologies, but the writing makes up for it in this case. P.I. Hannah "Nan" Harrington-Scott is a former wild child debutante on a stake out when she discovers she isn't the only one interested in a certain mega crook billionaire. Nan is going to have to beat mysterious and sexy Damon Connelly to the chase. Or, should she team up with him? Her head says stay away, but her body remembers the fun they had frisking each other for weapons.

I had a hard time getting through Man with a Past. The erotic scenes and plot were mediocre. Geena Cole has never quite forgotten her childhood sweetheart Cabot Vendermeer, III. Unfortunately, Cab left ten years ago under the burden of a murder charge. Geena knows Cab could never had committed the murder, but he left before she could prove otherwise. Now, Cab is back and asking for her to help him again. Can they solve the murder? And most importantly, will they have a future together?

Love Bites is a decent story, but the mystery is not as well written as Wicked Widow. It was not that hard to figure out who the killer was. I like the characters, and there were some good erotic scenes. The story does satisfy, but not with a big bang. Delia use to be the baddest of the bad, but a horrible marriage to a jerk has left her doubting herself and her abilities. Since her divorce, Delia has made-over her image to try to bolster her self-esteem, but she has yet to put herself to the test. On her first big case for Women Tek, she tails Ben Michaelson, playboy millionaire. The client thinks he killed her sister, but has no proof. Delia knows she is not supposed to make contact with Ben, but she can't help herself from getting closer to him. Ben brings out the best, or should I say the baddest in her. Will Delia release her inner bad girl and show Ben what he has been missing by going out with the same-old, same-old gold diggers? Has Delia bit off more than she can chew by y falling for a possible murderer?

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I would not read it again. Gemma Bruce has potential, but I would not buy something by this author, unless I read a little of it first.
