Who's in Charge.....Bob Barnes,
This review is from: Who's In Charge Here? (Paperback)
This book is excellent. It helpls you to have control over your child without breaking his spirit. It gives parents ways to help their children learn lessons in life without just telling them these are my rules and while you live here you will follow them. He helps you help your children to be responsible children and helps them pave a path to adulthood...

The best parenting book I have ever read,
This review is from: Who's In Charge Here? (Paperback)
Mr. Barnes has produced an amazing work that could save millions of parents and children from the domestic agony to which they have been sentenced by the errors of modern parenting theories. He hits every important topic- from the impotanace of consistency, to the negative effects of parental emotional outbursts, to why proper spanking is not a regression to barbarism as modern experts claim. If I had the talent and patience to write a book, this is exactly what I would like to have written. It earns an A+.

Advice Filtered Through One Man's Interpretations of God,
By
This review is from: Who's In Charge Here? (Paperback)
The true subject of this book was sublety hidden in Amazon's upfront on-line information. The title and the first few pages of actual text suggest an objective treatment of child rearing when in fact this book is a Christian Religeous treatise. I consider myself a Christian, but when the author bases his opions soley on what God has told him, then one wonders what the author's true intent is. Is he giving advice or is he ministering? If you like to be preached to then buy this book, otherwise try to seek out something more objective.

Another child torture manual,
By Love Unconditionally (New York, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Who's In Charge Here? (Paperback)
Yet another child abuse manual that tries to use the Bible as justification for deliberately inflicting pain upon helpless children. I love the way reviewers for such books like this always refer to non-violent parenting as the 'domestic agony people have been subjected to thanks to the spew of modern therapists', usually uttered along with regrets over how society has declined because people aren't hitting and beating their kids anymore. FACE IT. Extensive published studies have PROVEN that spanking has many, many negative effects and works no better than other methods of discipline. Stop trying to hide behind 'God' to falsely justify the fact that what you truly like about spanking is the anger release, the sensation of power, and the sense of revenge that doing it awards you.By the way, if the absence of spanking really caused such a decline in society, and using other methods of discipline was such 'agony', and the modern therapists were so so so so WRONG, then all of Scandinavia would've COLLAPSED by now!!! Spanking has been illegal in Sweden and Norway since the late 70's and the low incidence of violence, the harmonious parent-child relationships, the low crime rate among juveniles, and the emotional soundness of those countries positively SHAMES America by comparison! They absolutely put us with our hit-happy parenting preferences to utter embarrassing SHAME! But, instead of following their good example, these Religious Right imbeciles who give Christianity a bad name keep crawling out of their holy holes in the ground and insisting that parenting methods should start taking giant steps BACKWARDS. |
