5.0 out of 5 stars Old School Soul, May 23, 2010

Not much to say except that Johnnie's music is good listening and dancing music. I grew up listening to all the different artists that sang "Soul Music" and I love them all. I bought this particluar CD because I did not have it and I wanted to add it to my collection.

Johnnie Taylor must be remembered as one of the best southern soul singers, along with his Stax-mates (Otis Redding, William Bell, Eddie Floyd) and James Carr or Arthur Alexander. He's got a tender voice, that suits perfectly in bluesy, but also country-gospel soul stuff, and this record contains the danceable title track, that was later covered by
blue note's funky-jazz sax machine, Lou Donaldson.
