From School Library Journal
Grade 5-8-- If you are not familiar with Orp, now is the time to make his acquaintance. Here, he finds his toes curling up whenever he gets a letter from his pen-pal, Jenny Lee, a sure sign he likes her, but suddenly they are curling when Ellen is near. What's a guy to do? The school musical is under way, and Orp, his sister, and friends are all involved. As the play progresses, so does the hero's understanding of the opposite sex. His Uncle Gus is a wonderful character who shows his nephew that two girlfriends are like striking two matches and ending up with one big flame. From watching and listening to his father and friends, Orp learns what not to do concerning girls. This is a fast-paced, entertaining story filled with real people, even the adults. --Julie Tomlianovich, South Central Kansas Library System, Hutchinson
