An Immediate Classic Performance
on August 10, 2012
I want to review this album fairly while not rebutting the previous customer review.
This album was perfect for my nighttime commute. He touches on a spectrum of topics -- unlike "Seemed Like A Good Idea" which merely broke the ice with ethnic humor and segued into Mars vs. Venus. The subjects of his monologue were both relevant to then (2010 performance) and to today's events. If you can handle the profane language (spoken nicely), and generally offensive humor about TSA, immigration, stereotypes, politicians, gays: there is a track on here for everyone. The main theme of this routine was that we tend to have short attention spans with every new event, outbreak, scare. All it takes is a few weeks or a new distracting event, then we're focusing time and energy on the latest buzz. The news media--to include cyberspace--plays on this human foible.
In summation, I recommend this comedy album. I didn't know who Alonzo Bodden was until I heard him on one of my favorite radio quiz shows a year ago. His act is an idiosyncratic blend of Carlin's philosophy; C. Rock's sociopolitical commentary; and men vs. women rant is comparable to K. Hart. Great buy!
