5.0 out of 5 stars Great story for children (and adults) about being different
This was by far my favorite book growing up. It is the funny and warm story of Homer, a boy with a great floppy red hat who is treated like an outcast by his bratty sisters (and everyone else), through a twist on Abbott and Costello "Who's On First" routine. Homer finds redemption in a touching ending that sends the message that conformity is dangerous and...

I actually still have my 1962 Hardcover edition and wouldn't part with it for the world! My children even love it. It is 64 pages, but is very easy to read. (My 5 year old can read it too!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless, Funny, Endearing, June 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Who's a Pest?: A Homer Story (Paperback)
I loved this book as a kid and was thrilled that my six-year-old niece enjoyed it enough for repetitive reading (I still don't mind reading it over and over). The main character is endearing and the text is funny and fast-paced. I keep it on my bookshelf with my childhood classics and keepsakes.

I loved this book when I was a child. It was one of my favorites and I was so excited when I learned how to read it to my mother. Now I want to share it with my niece and hope she laughs as hard as I did.

This review is from: Who's a Pest?: A Homer Story (Paperback)
I have loved this story since my cousin gave his copy to me. Unfortunately, it seems to be hiding in a box around here... somewhere! Thanks to the internet, though, I managed to get another copy! I am so excited about being able to share this with my son (currently 8months!) when he is older. Such a delightful read. Funny, and a covert lesson in English.

5.0 out of 5 stars who's a pest, December 19, 2010
I had this book growing up and my older brother always called me Homer. (I was probably the only little girl with the nickname of Homer). When I had my daughter 6 years ago my brother bought me a copy of Who's a Pest and a copy of Piggle (A Homer Story). My daughter who is now in 1st grade loves these books and they are ones that my whole household doesn't mind hearing and reading over and over again. I highly recommend these books for every child!!! We often have moments where we will quote from the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Essential For Any Childhood, September 15, 2010
By
China Rider "CR" (Winsome Holstein Nebula) - See all my reviews
I've adored this book since I was 7 years old. This is a timeless children's classic that delights and endures all fair-weather fads or trends. Homer's appeal is universal and there is no child above the age of 5 who will not see a part of him or herself in any of the characters.

The wit, the humour, the gentle adventure bouffe of Homer and his four insouciant sisters will bring laughter and mirth to young readers and a tear or two of love and comfort to those who read to them.

Please, do not allow any child dear to you pass through the portal of young discovery and innocence without the renewable joy of this book.
