4.0 out of 5 stars goodbye jt
one of jt's last concerts...bootleg filmed, but rather good, one gets used to the filmquality, if you like jt this is a historic movie, the songs are good, but it's a bit sad, he had only 3 weeks to live when this was filmed and he was marked from his illness, he didn't have the strenght to have his guitar on for every song and walked out a few times to rest and let...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad Video - Great Sound
I don't know if the copy I ended up with is a bad one or not... The sound on this DVD is really good, but the video leaves much to be desired. It looks like a second or third generation copy of an old VHS recording that makes everything look a bit blurry and out of focus. Compared to some of the older VHS recordings that I have seen that have been remastered for DVD, this...

This review is from: Who's Been Talking? Johnny Thunders in Concert (DVD)
I don't know if the copy I ended up with is a bad one or not... The sound on this DVD is really good, but the video leaves much to be desired. It looks like a second or third generation copy of an old VHS recording that makes everything look a bit blurry and out of focus. Compared to some of the older VHS recordings that I have seen that have been remastered for DVD, this one seems like no real effort was made to clean up the visual aspect of it all. If you are a die-hard Thunders fan, like I am, this concert is worth having in your collection, but, with a little more technical attention, it could be so much better.
That said - of all the Johnny Thunders films out there - and I think I have most all of them - this DVD shows Johnny at his most 'professional' best. He's not drunk, stoned, or trying to live up to some pathetic image of rock and roll excess. He's just playing the music he loved and showing what a consummate entertainer he was born to be. He looks happy, comfortable, and in control. If this is actually the last recorded concert he ever did, as the promos and the liner notes claim, then he went out at the top of his game. And that alone makes this DVD worth having forf any serious Johnny Thunders fan.
