5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, February 12, 2006

This review is from: Who's Under That Hat? (Gulliver Books) (Hardcover)
My daughter received this book as a gift at about 20 months old. She loves it. It's a must read on a daily basis. It's a lift the flap and a pop-up book that is one of her favorites. It teaches colors and animals and has a mirror on the last page for the reader to play peek-a-boo. Excellent!

4.0 out of 5 stars My toddler loves the book., October 19, 2006

This is one of my son's (18 months old) favorite books. He loves to open each flap and see the amazing animals hiding behind come roaring out in
3-d, like the lion, or the squawking parrot, or the gentle snail.
You do have to be careful about not having your young child grab at the animal, but he or she can have fun opening each hat to see which animal will peek out.

5.0 out of 5 stars RICK "SHAQ" GOLDSTEIN SAYS: "GRANDPA SAYS THIS IS A PERFECT GIFT FOR KIDS!", December 12, 2007
This book is perfect for talking toddlers who can't read yet, as well as young children learning to read. All the colors are bold and lively helping enhance an adult's goal of teaching colors. All the left side pages in the book have a cute little 3 or 4 line limerick that is a clue to the identity of a character(s) that is hidden under a pull-back-pop-up page on the right side pages of the book. A creative adult aka "Grandpa/Ma/Mom/Dad/etc. can creatively interact in a "PEEK-A-BOO" fun loving interchange with young children. As an added bonus on the last page beneath multiple pull-back-pop-up character's is a "secret" mirror that the child can see themselves, or as a real surprise you can tape your own picture there for a good laugh. NOTE: The pages consist of a strong thick coated cardboard, so this precious book can probably be passed down successfully to the next child in the family.

My daughter has fun with this book- both having to pull up the hats and looking at the 'pop-up' style animals under the hats. Great color and animals; definitely worth buying for todlers (10 months+).

Children love to lift up the hats to see who is under there! Also the rhythm of the words make it fun for the children to listen to the book as its being read to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars English Language Learners, June 19, 2008

This review is from: Who's Under That Hat? (Gulliver Books) (Hardcover)
A good book for teaching school-age beginner English Language Learners (ELLs)for several reasons. It has just the right amount of text for a beginner. These students need basic English such as learning the color words and this book goes beyond the basic ones. Each page is a riddle and school-age children enjoy the challenge. Each riddle ends in a repetitive patterned question which beginner ELLs easily learn. Once learned they can apply the sentence structure to expressing themselves.
