When a chick hatches out of an egg, neither Goose, Duck, Hen, Bird, nor the chick knows to whom it belongs. But Swan knows. The artwork's close-up perspective and the combination of large type, onomatopoeia, and the clues to Little Chick's parents scattered through the pictures will draw children into the scenes. Little ones will be delighted to discover the hatchling's parents swimming nearby in the reeds. Overflowing the pages, the softly brushed pen-and-watercolor illustrations appear simplistic but, in fact, offer a charming visual narrative, as cozy as a parent's lap, that will assuage a toddler's fear of abandonment. This book is way too cute. Baby swan pops out of the egg while parents are not around. All the birds check the little chick and asks Whose Chick Are You? Parent Swans are nearby and if you look closely you will see them in the background, which makes the whole thing so adorable. They then come to the baby and snuggle. What is really cool about this is that it is not hetero-focused. There is no mention of mommy and daddy, they are just two gender-neutral swans, so it is great for queer couples as well, and their little chicks :).

Mama and Daddy swan leave the nest to look for food. While they are gone their egg hatches! All the creatures in the pond can't figure out how it belongs to! It isn't long before the swans are back and they lay claim to their chick! They meet for the first time!
