Take three different issues and mix them altogether and see what comes out. In the case of this book, the issues are 1) the uncertainties of Y2K, 2) the Christian faith perspective on life, and 3) UFO's. What a interesting mix of elements! What great possibilities exist!

I was pleased with the author's writing style. It was well paced and demonstrated her knowledge of the region that the story takes place in, as well as an understanding of the technology involved in the Y2K related issues. The characterizations were fairly well developed and gave some dimension and texture to the story.

As a Christian, I appreciated the biblical perspective that the author used to demonstrate how people of faith may respond to the uncertainties of Y2K. The aspect of a family divided along faith viewpoints added an element of tension to the novel. It was interesting to see how the people in this family grappled with the very real issue of differing worldviews that threatened to split their relationships apart. Is blood thicker than water? You'll have to read this book to find out!

Finally, the UFO spin was a real mind-bender. Without giving away the twist, I have to say that I'd never given any thought to the perspective painted by the author regarding this issue. It has given me much to think about and to discuss with my friends.

I would recommend this book as a good summer novel to read and ponder what is to come in the months that lie just ahead of us.

Christian psycho-babble at its best. I knew it was coming...y2k computer hysteria and ufo hysteria brought together into one goofy book. Just wait until the end of the year...
