This is a wonderful book! It's a surprisingly inventive and original take on colors. Children will want to read it over and over and adults will enjoy the compelling text and innovative design. The illustrations do a terrific job supporting this unique approach to looking at and thinking about color.

From cherry red to mustard yellow and salmon pink, Why Is Blue Dog Blue? presents a brilliant color array along with very simple text for young people. A most enjoyable book for little ones, Why Is Blue Dog Blue? is highly recommended for young readers in the process of learning about colors.

I found this book great for teaching young children that there is more to colors than the usual ROYGBIV.

I used this book in my art classes and the kids loved it. It doesn't have a lot of words so we could start drawing our blue dogs.

If you are a fan of the Blue Dog you will enjoy this book by Mr. Rodrique.
It is simple and clever in its reasoning why the Blue Dog is blue but sometimes not blue. It is good for a light read and a good chuckle.

I really liked this book. I used it with my gifted students before they created their own Blue Dog pictures. Even the middles school age students liked the book.

I shared this book with my class after visiting a gallery in Louisiana. They LOVED it. The students wanted me to read it daily. The memorized the text and loved the new color words. The bright and interesting illustration are ideal for young learners. The artist also has a site that supports the use of his book in education. We downloade and watched a Blue Dog powerpoint slideshow that included a photo of the actual dog the paintings are modeled from.

One of my favorite books to read to my girls before they paint. Wonderful for inspiring imagination through art and color.

This is a fun, creative book about color and word plays. I plan to use it in speech therapy to help kids understand how words can have different meanings. The art work is great too.

The little girl I gave it to loved it! Beautifully produced.
