1.0 out of 5 stars Why buy the book?, August 13, 2008
By Mark_A (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
They say "Why buy the cow?", I say "Why buy the book?" If you've never used any online collaborative or meeting tools, you might get something out of it. The first section would have been a good in a book 10 years ago, but is pretty old hat today. I finished reading it at a coffee shop and put it straight in the trash.

I also think it's *extremely* poor form for a co-author to give their own book a 5-star rating (are they really that desperate for it to get a good rating on Amazon) and poor form for Amazon to allow it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rich Case Studies and Web 2.0 Research, February 17, 2008
As a co-author of this book with Subrah Iyar, we spent over 16 months of global research in developing this book to explore the future of Software as a Service and the impact that Web 2.0 is having on future business models.

The leadership of Subrah Founder, CEO and Founder of WebEx has truly revolutionized the meaning of virtual collaboration. Other companies profiled in this book include successful block buster companies like: ChinesePod,[...], Netsuite and Right Now Technologies. What I personally found researching this book and interviewing these company's CEO's was that their insights came from real world experiences, passion for change was refreshing, and desire to share their knowledge openly and transparently was simply goodness. I hope every leader reads this book - this is not a book about Software it is about how work and business is being revolutionized by our next generation of talent, and the Web's increasing richness and functionality is propelling all forward. New Software on demand models are simply an evolution of the ways we can interact and do commerce over the web.

Are you ready is all I ask leaders to think about? This book was written to help companies globally improve their go to market approaches in Web 2.0 and SaaS.

The rewards are significant and if you are a CEO or executive leader that does not understand Web 2.0 and SaaS - then you are missing out on new business innovation model capabilities and hence lost revenues and profits.

We are simply at the beginning of what is possible.

There is no better time than now. Join us and catch the change wave!
