Editorial Reviews

Review

"Have you ever wanted an instruction manual for parenting? Look no further; this is the book you've been waiting for. With refreshing honesty and practical instruction, Joey and Carla Link have put together a great resource for parents. If you have kids, you need this book." --Jill Savage, founder and CEO of Hearts at Home and author of Real Moms... Real Jesus

"The biblical and practical teaching Joey and Carla Link share is something every parent should read. It has given us clear expectations—what we as parents can require of our kids and what our kids know is expected of them. People are happy to be around our kids instead of being happy when we leave! We are confident this book will be a good beginning for parents, no matter the ages of their children." --US Representative Bill and Natalie Huizenga, Michigan --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Most of us don't have friends who could honestly help us with our parenting struggles and even if we do, it's hard to ask for advice and be willing to hear. This book is a great resource for straight talk on the most common parenting struggles! Joey and Carla speak from years of experience with their own children and counseling others, it's a handbook of ideas and solutions to everyday struggles as we try to train our children in obedience. Highly Recommend.

This is a fabulous book for all parents....and a book that should be revisited time and time again as children explore the world of growing up!!!!! Joey and Carla Link touch on the most important tips to raise responsible and respectful children--my favorites being the explanations of what obedience does NOT look like and the importance of first time obedience and how to achieve it. This easy to read book is filled with real life examples and success stories. Readers will finish this book feeling empowered and encouraged in their parenting walk. My 4 children range from preschool age to teenager and "Why Can't I Get My Kids to Behave" hits areas that all 4 struggle with from time to time!

This book is packed with wise, practical, and applicable advice for parents. At one time I thought it was impossible to have well-behaved children and a peaceful home. But because of the principles laid out clearly in this book, what I thought was impossible is a reality in our family! Written in an easy to read, no-nonsense style. I highly recommend this book to parents with children of all ages!

This book is totally practical! I have 5 kids and very little time to read. Lately, I felt that things were off-track in our home so I bought "Why Can't I Get My Kids to Behave?" I read one chapter each day and took to heart each concept. The Links help parents see the root of common behavior problems, and get to the heart of it. Reading this book makes me eager to read other material authored by the Links. This book is now on my ESSENTIAL resource shelf!

Joey and Carla Link take their years of experience as parents and youth pastor and social worker respectively and bring it all to us parents. This book is solidly based on God's Word and Wisdom but has many examples and practical how to's! Our family has greatly benefited from the wisdom contained in this short, practical book! We are enjoying our teenagers as a result!

Conscience, character, compassion-- plus a work ethic! Are there any parents who would not choose these qualities for their children?

Using tried and true approaches-- "field tested" with their own children-- Joey and Carla Link recommend practical, daily tools for teaching children to comply, reflect, and grow in maturity and wisdom. Their parenting tools are best used with prayer, and the Links' approaches are not necessarily easy. The tools require time, thought, patience and regular communication between spouses. (The authors also offer tips for single-parent families.) Nonetheless, testimonies from members of the Links' parenting classes suggest the fruits: enjoyable young people growing up in happy families.

While the book would be a nice gift for baby showers and new parents, the principles in the book are gifts to all parents, plus their children and future grandchildren.

The world needs more people raised with conscience and character!

This book is practical and provides 'application steps' to get you from where you are in your parenting to where you want to be. Most parenting books describe the kinds of kids you want to have, but don't really show you how to get there. This book, however, gives you the tools to apply in your everyday life. Whether a single parent or married, the material in this book works!
