The five white dangers listed in this book are a revolution. If every American avoided these foods (which most Americans make as eighty percent of their diet) and applied the simple principles of this book, the nation's average life expectancy would jump to 90-100 years.

The arguments on this page are respectable, and there are a number of things meat eaters must consider when they attempt to justify their meat eating with the argument that "they ate meat in the Bible."

When God created the earth, everything was perfect. The plants, animals, soil-everything! Now how could anyone who believes in Creation say that the diet given to perfect humans in a perfect Creation was NOT perfect? According to the Bible, humans didn't eat meat or dairy until after the fall, when the world and God's Creation were no longer perfect. Thus, the diet degenerated into imperfection. Now, in the less-than-perfect world after the fall into sin, all creatures ate whatever they could get-food wasn't perfect anymore. Jesus ate what He could get in the imperfect world conditions just like everyone else. So do most Americans, unknowingly, living in ignorance. They have the means and the resources that Bible people and Jesus didn't have.

And now science is finally uncovering that the original diet God gave in His perfect Creation was the one ideal for man. And the great economy and bounty of these present times make obtaining this prefect diet from a perfect Creation more obtainable, unlike in Bible times. According to the Bible, this meatless, dairy-less diet is the one God originally gave man and the one by which God intended His creation to be sustained!

This book tells you how to obtain this nearly perfect diet (hey, nothing is absolutely perfect after the fall). By simply following the principles of this book, I've witnessed my energy soar. I need 2-3 hours LESS sleep than I did eating the average American diet. Everyone should try eating by this book's principals-for at least a couple weeks. They will show you what true health really is.

(Note: Some of the following information was gathered from various sources.)

Still think humans are designed to eat meat, even though when God designed us, we didn't eat meat? Well, read this information from the author of this book in an article he wrote about the subject:

"Often in my seminars, Christians will challenge me by stating that people ate meat in the Bible. "That may be true," I answer, "but the meat in Bible days and the meat our forefathers ate was a totally different animal!" The meat in Bible days and the meat our forefathers ate was only about 3 percent fat. Beef, the way it is grown today is 20 to 30 percent fat...while pork is 40 to 60 percent fat! Nor was the meat our forefathers ate full of antibiotics, growth hormones, preservatives, toxins and cancer! Nor did they pasteurize and homogenize their milk or produce eggs in wire cages without benefit of daylight, green food, insects, et cetera!

Often people will say: "Oh, I don't eat red meat any more...I only eat chicken and fish." Somehow the American public has the misconception that chicken and fish are healthy. NOT SO! Chicken has the same amount of cholesterol as beef and is loaded with growth hormones. A chicken that used to take 15 weeks to mature is now ready for market in just six weeks. Sixty percent of all chicken is contaminated with salmonella. Then there are the antibiotics and other drugs. And when we look at fish, we find that in terms of calories consumed, fish has twice the cholesterol of pork or beef; has no fiber (as is the case with all other animal products), which promotes problems connected with lack of fiber, ranging from constipation to colon cancer; not to mention the risks associated with eating contaminated fish from polluted waters..."

The meat nowadays just isn't safe anymore. The Bible doesn't forbid meat. Does that mean meat is NOW safe? It was reasonably safe then, but not now! Meat and dairy now can hurt you readily from a lifetime of eating. The Bible doesn't outright condemn many things like cigarettes and such (of course it couldn't), and is it sin to smoke? If you know it harms your body, I believe it is. Now you know that certain eating habits can harm you, too. God wants us to take care of our bodies.

From the author of this book: "Meat eating and the use of dairy products have not a single redeeming feature! There is no assimilable protein in meat or eggs, and no usable calcium in dairy! Why? Because the heating (cooking) of the protein deranges the molecular structure of the protein, making it unassimilable by the body. The pasteurizing of dairy products changes the organic calcium to an inorganic, unusable form. If we look to nature, there is not a single meat-eating animal in the wild that cooks the flesh it eats, nor is there an animal in the wild that pasteurizes the milk it feeds its young. Nor is there even an animal in the wild that drinks the milk of another animal, or drinks milk after the age of weaning."

Humans were not perfectly designed to get cancer and heart disease at epidemic proportions (in America, 8 out of 10 people will have some degree of heart disease before they die and fifty percent of all people will have a heart attack). What is causing this atrocity? Mostly, it's the standard American diet-what most of us eat. Following the principals in this book will virtually eliminate your risk. Case closed.

"And God said: Behold, I have given you every herb (vegetable) bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a treat yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat." (Genesis 1:29)

5.0 out of 5 stars A wake-up call to Christians, January 14, 2001
By A Customer
People who condemn this book on a biblical basis are missing a couple of very important points. First, the foods which comprise our contemporary diets are a far cry from the foods of biblical times, what with the modern use of pesticides, hormones, preservatives, etc. Second, St. Paul very clearly states "All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify." (1 Cor. 10:23 NAS) Malkmus does not maintain that eating certain foods will send you to hell or sever your relationship with God, only that they will cause additional burdens of sickness and premature death. He accurately points out that Christianity has devoted itself almost entirely to the spiritual side of man while ignoring the physical side. Remember it was God who created the physical body and declared that His creation was good (Gen 1:31). All that being said, my most compelling reason for giving this book a favorable review is the fact I have personally used the Malkmus program which has resulted in a level of personal health I never thought possible...as a man in my mid-forties I have regained the vigor of my twenties!

4.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking, November 9, 1998
It is a good introduction into the issue of health for Christians. Some Christians seem very fatalistic about their health, this book shows why that is wrong. Stresses the importance of exercise and watching what you eat. The book stresses the importance of eating "raw". This means eating an orange not drinking orange juice. It is a very short book, but it has provoked me to be much more watchful of what I eat.

I give the book four stars because I feel the advertisement about the nutrition center should have or could have been left out.
However, like some folks said this information should be common sense I agree is should be but look around. Does your life style or the life style of your Christian friends show common sense? I believe most of us (not all because some folks are on the right track) can get some good from this or similar teaching about our physical health. And if we are physically healthy we will be better ambassadors for Christ. True, it is not going to be a cure all for everybody but the principals are good. The one big drawback that I see is being able to afford whole natural foods. Too many of us have to live in and work in environments that preclude natural food styles, but just like most of us don¡¯t fully live up to every precept of the Bible itself, it is still worth striving for. I would say prayerfully read the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent message, but inaccurate claims, June 13, 2002
This book is an enigma. The overall message of this book is excellent. However, some of the specific claims in it are false, and in some cases outrageously so.

First the good. There is much debate in Christian circles as to why Christians get sick. Some claim it is due to a lack of faith. Others say it is God's will for the person to be sick, that He is "testing" the individual or developing character in them. And others say that it's not possible to know why a particular person got sick.

But Malkmus says that in most cases the cause has nothing to do with these "spiritual" reasons. The cause is simply physical. Christians get sick as a result of living unhealthy lifestyles. And all one has to do is observe what Christian eat when they get together to confirm this.

After just about every home Bible study I've been to junk food is served, and everyone except me partakes of it. And the waistlines of Christians reflect this. It seems that at most Bible studies I am about the only person there who is not significantly overweight. And most of these overweight Christians seem to have diabetes. But they seem unwilling to admit the connection between the two. And it is not just diabetes: heart disease, cancer, stroke, osteoporosis, and many other illnesses are diet-related.

Exercise is another important factor the Malkmus discusses, and rightly so. Lack of exercise also contributes to all of the above and many other illnesses. Malkmus also discusses the need for pure air, pure water, sunshine, adequate rest, and a positive mental attitude. And all of these are important as well, but most Christians again see little concerned with any of these.

But amidst this excellent and much needed message, the many false statements Malkmus makes detract from the value of this book. Also, his overuse of exclamations points is very distracting.

For instance, he writes, "Glucose is a naturally occurring sugar found in raw fruits, vegetables, and honey! Glucose is a complex sugar that is released very slowly into the blood stream. Glucose is the form in which God made sugar, and the form in which our all-wise Creator intended sugar to be consumed by the body!" (p.53).

There is glucose in the foods he mentions, but the main sugar in these foods is fructose ("fruit sugar"). Moreover, glucose is NOT a "complex sugar." Glucose is a monosaccharide, meaning it is composed of one sugar molecule. This is the "simplest" form in which sugar occurs. Also, glucose is the highest sugar and just about the highest food found on the glycemic index, a measure of how quickly a food causes blood sugar levels to rise. Interestingly, fructose has the lowest glycemic rating of any sugar.

Meanwhile, Malkmus writes, "Sucrose, on the other hand, is a product of man! Sucrose is a physically and mentally addictive drug! Sucrose is a simple sugar that is released very quickly into the blood stream...causing great harm to the body!" (p.53; ellipse in original).

In fact, sucrose is naturally occurring, albeit highly processed, sugar. It's a disaccharide, composed of one molecule of glucose and one molecule of fructose. As such, its glycemic rating is halfway between these two sugars. So Malkmus has basically reversed the facts regarding glucose and sucrose.

One can get addicted to the "sugar rush" one gets from eating a lot of sugar, but it really is exaggerating to call sucrose a drug. As for how harmful it is, sugar contributes nothing of nutritive value except calories. And it is associated with various health problems, but there is still much debate over exactly how detrimental it is. But still, Malkmus's basic message is correct: don't eat much sugar. But it would help if he got his facts straight.

Examples of Malkmus's outrageous claims can been seen when promotes what he believes to be the ideal diet: a raw foods diet. He writes, "Living cells cannot be nourished with dead food! Life begets life! All cooked food is dead food! The heat of cooking destroys all of the enzymes, over 80% of the vitamins, changes the protein to an unusable form, and the organic minerals revert back to their inorganic state!" (p.94).

Malkmus provides no specific documentation to back-up any of these claims. There is a list of 70 references in the back of the book. But the text itself contains no footnotes to any of these references, nor are page numbers for the references given.

But I did some research and could find no evidence whatsoever that cooking somehow causes the protein and minerals in food to convert into a form that is unusable by the body. Now it is true that cooking will cause some loss of vitamins, but how much of a loss depends on many factors. And unless you boil a cup of broccoli in a gallon of water for an hour, it won't be anywhere near 80%.

It is also true there is a loss of enzymes from cooking food. And for this reason it is wise to eat a portion of one's foods raw. However, in some cases nutrients are actually made more bioavailable by cooking. An example of this is the lycopene found in tomatoes.

It is also true that many will thrive on a raw foods diet, but many others will find such a diet way too restrictive and will have great difficulties trying to follow it. I won't pursue this issue here I discuss such concerns in detail in my book "Creationist Diet: Nutrition and God-given Foods According to the Bible."

It is a shame that there are such problems with this book since the overall message is excellent and much needed. So with some hesitancy, I would recommend this book. Just be leery of any specific claims. And for information on healthy eating that is not as restrictive as the raw foods diet Malkmus recommends see my "Creationist Diet" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, December 6, 2009

This review is from: Why Christians Get Sick (Paperback)
Since our view of health is squid to a lot of money to use for the new Health Care Professionals, I can understand why this book is not a necessary commodity for families and their household. This book would help eliminate a lot of illnesses if read, applied and choosing to live the way our Heavenly Father planned in the Bible in the book of Genesis. I knew scripture and have begun to apply a different and correct life style according to the master food/eating plan the our Heavenly Father laid out for us originally, but to read it and then to apply it and over and above this to FEEL THE DIFFERENCE IN MY BODY is another whole new concept of satisfaction in health. By the way I feel, I don't miss the incorrect types of processed foods and flesh that I used to eat. I feel great.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want to get well - read this book, July 9, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Why Christians Get Sick (Paperback)
Rev. Malkmus has written a book that needs to be read by everyone that wants to get or stay well. If you are searching for Truth, this little book will certainly start you down the right path to it. I have tried many, many diets in the past to get myself well and nothing really worked until I found out what was truly making me sick. God gave us His ultimate diet in Genesis 1:29 and believe me when I say, He knows what will get and keep us healthy. When you really think about it, God's people should be the healthiest people on this planet, yet we are as sick as those around us who do not believe in God. Why? I firmly believe that most of us have NOT prayed that the Holy Spirit would lead us to the TRUTH. Yes, we pray for God to heal us, but we do not seem to want to do the hard work of getting ourselves well. God is not a magician. He has given us in His word how we are to care for our bodies but we want the easy way out by just downing a few pills instead.

Since I have changed to an all raw diet (done over several months), I feel wonderful. I have lots more energy, I'm more clear-headed, I'm also much more motivated to do things, I see better without my glasses, and best of all, I have no more aches and pains. But there is one caveat, you need to eat all organic to get these wonderful results. I know it's more expensive, but can you put a price on your health? Do without other things. I am now able to afford organic because: (1) I do not need to buy supplements and (2) I don't eat as much raw foods as I did cooked and yet I'm always full, and (3) I don't have to buy expensive meats, poultry or seafood. And if you have a weight problem, whether over or under - you will level off at your normal weight, unless, of course, you cheat.

Rev. Malkmus has a wonderful website and facility in North Carolina that I would someday like to visit. He has many more books listed on the website, such as, more detailed books on how to do the program, cookbooks, and many, many, testimonials from people who got themselves well from some very serious and life-threatening diseases.

I have searched for over thirty years to find a program that would heal my health issues (hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia, exhaustion, poor eyesight, PMS, brain fog, fungal infections, Candida, constipation, diarrhea, short term memory loss, anxiety, depression, gum disease, tooth loss, hair loss, insomnia). I probably left out some issues but I think you get the idea that I was a complete mess. I pray that all Christians would find the Truth and "DO" the Truth. God knows it will not be easy for most, for the foods that are adulterated and manufactured by the world's greedy food conglomerates are very addicting. But remember, these foods are NOT God's foods. Eat fresh raw fruit and vegetables (including greens) - but be careful on the fruit if you have a bloodsugar problem. And it is best to eat a large variety of raw foods to make sure you get all your required nutrients. Please do more reading about raw foods if you truly want to get well. Blessings to all on your search for the Truth that will lead to health and God's will.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Christians Need To Read This Book!, April 1, 2011
This review is from: Why Christians Get Sick (Paperback)
George Malkmus makes it clear: Christians choose to corrupt their bodies and that is why they are getting so diseased. So many Christians want to pray that God will rid them of illness, yet they don't take care of themselves. I love this book because it is short and to the point. It's a concept. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK AND PASS IT ON. God did not intend for us to live in such sick, obese, and frail bodies.

5.0 out of 5 stars good info is always a positive read, December 1, 2007
I recommend this book because very few books actually try to explain why we are in poor health. Many people miss the point and buy into the mainstream generalizations of why so many of us are having some medical problems. I am not a religious person, but found his book a good read because I think he is on the right track. I thank him for his contribution. So what if he isn't considered a perfect writer like one of his critics noted.
