Why Did the Dinosaurs Disappear?
Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Kindergarten-Grade 2?The Bergers use an easy-reader format to present the alternative viewpoints of what caused the demise of dinosaurs. Simple declarative sentences are used to explore some possibilities: a temperature drop, a star explosion spawning killer cosmic rays, or an asteroid impact. The authors side with the many scientists who favor the asteroid theory. The beginning of the book is padded with irrelevant descriptions of various dinosaurs, and the conclusion that there are still plenty of mysteries left unsolved centers, again, on the dinosaurs themselves (what color was their skin? What noises did they make?) rather than on their disappearance. Unremarkable watercolor illustrations appear throughout. The big mystery that goes completely unmentioned is how the asteroid managed to kill off the dinos, but not everything else.?Cathryn A. Camper, Minneapolis Public Library
