4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Beginner's Guide
Why Die? A Beginner's Guide to Living Forever is a very concise book on the subject of immortalism, which isn't quite the same as physical immortality, but it is sufficient nonetheless. I was drawn to this book because of its title, but I was a little let down with the little knowledge I gained from the read. Not to knock the book, because it truly is a beginner's guide;...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book!
This must be one of the worst books ever written! Throughout the whole book, Herb Bowie shows a complete lack of understanding about the laws of nature. His main point seems to be that science have not yet proven what causes death, so therefore they can't say that everyone eventually have to physically die either. He also speaks in terms of the physical body as the heaven...

Why Die? A Beginner's Guide to Living Forever is a very concise book on the subject of immortalism, which isn't quite the same as physical immortality, but it is sufficient nonetheless. I was drawn to this book because of its title, but I was a little let down with the little knowledge I gained from the read. Not to knock the book, because it truly is a beginner's guide; however, I do not think that a seeker of immortality would derive much from this book other than the modest opinions of Bowie himself. It's a good, quick read which introduces the reader to the subjects of rebirthing and immortalism, but other than that, it feels a little incomplete. I recommend it to anyone who knows nothing about these subjects. Also recommended: You Can't Catch a Cold by Dan Hall.

This must be one of the worst books ever written! Throughout the whole book, Herb Bowie shows a complete lack of understanding about the laws of nature. His main point seems to be that science have not yet proven what causes death, so therefore they can't say that everyone eventually have to physically die either. He also speaks in terms of the physical body as the heaven on earth, as if the body itself it worth worshipping (which is nonsense, of course). Well, mr. bowie, look around you! Not a single person on this planet has yet lived to become over 200. So now suddenly you think you're immortal? Personally, I can't believe I even bought this cheap piece of writing. If actually believe what Herb bowie says to be the truth, then I'd strongly suggest you go to the doctor and have yourself checked!

4.0 out of 5 stars why indeed?, October 1, 2000

Herb Bowie, in a very straightforward and methodical way uncovers the myth of death. This is a very logical and step-by-step approach. It will appeal to those interested in pushing the boundaries of their belief systems. It will necessitate a willingness to suspend judgement and really look at what we as a species have come to accept as irrevocably true - the reality of death. Herb presents his solutions to this dilemna and although I don't concur will all of them, he states them well and will provoke the reader into deeply inquiring for onesself. As additions to this book I would suggest the works of Annalee Skarin, Sondra Ray, and the final chapter in my own book, Voices of Awakening, also available through amazon.com

Ok, refute most of known history.....that's ok, because mortality is negative. If you drop the negatives, you will have more room to develop positives. People are "too busy" to study this area. (Maybe they become interested when it's too late?) Jesus very wisely said: Seek it now, not later....
