5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for my 3 year old grandson
My grandson listened intently and was thrilled with the illustrations, when I read it to him and his mother. She wasn't too thrilled when I told her I ordered the book, because Dr. Laura is a bit too conservative for her. But once she heard it, she became a big fan. 1.0 out of 5 stars Way too similar to Miriam Schlein's classic
A friend recommended this book to me, but I found it incredibly similar to Miriam Schlein's classic book _The Way Mothers Are_. Do yourself a favor and check that book out instead--the illustrations are better too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for my 3 year old grandson, September 20, 1999

This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Hardcover)
My grandson listened intently and was thrilled with the illustrations, when I read it to him and his mother. She wasn't too thrilled when I told her I ordered the book, because Dr. Laura is a bit too conservative for her. But once she heard it, she became a big fan. Our only grand/child is no longer an only child since the recent birth of our second. We now have to discipline him because we now have many more constraints in our daily lives. ie, 'quiet, baby sleeping', 'can't play with you right now, have to feed baby', etc.

It helps his parents, and grand-parents explain that we still love him no matter what. Thank you Dr. Laura. Linda

3.0 out of 5 stars Nearly identical to Martin Baynton's book of the SAME TITLE!, June 21, 1999
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Hardcover)
I liked this book, but I happened to see Martin Baynton's book, also entitled "Why Do You Love Me", copyrighted in '88 and published first in New Zealand in '89. Nearly identical storyline too. I wonder how Mr. Baynton feels (or would feel) about Dr. Laura's "original" story....

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!, April 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Hardcover)
What an excellent book to share with children of all ages! This is one of my favorite childrens book. It helps explain to children what it means when you say " I love you". Sammy's questions to his mother are questions many children have, but don't necessarily ask. Reading this book helps them to understand that no matter what they do-good or bad, their parents will love them always. They may be angry with them or upset, but that dosen't mean that their love for their children has stopped. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read. This is a message everyone should hear and understand no matter what age.

5.0 out of 5 stars touching, marvelous, September 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Hardcover)
This book deals in a meaningful and appropriate way with the emotions and fears that come up in children. As a pre-school teacher I spend a large amount of time in the bookstore in the constant search of fine books. I found this book by chance, reading my way through many, many books, while I was looking for the perfect birthday-gift for one of my students. I had never heard the authors name before. I was immedetialy in awe with the book. Every single word seemed so meaningful. True - this book is written on a subject that is quite obvious for us grown up's and we probably take it for granted. But what a powerful way to tell and remind children that your parents love is unconditional. I'd like to highly recommend it !!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My two boys loved it!, July 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Hardcover)
Dr. Laura captures the essence of insecurity that children go through. They wonder if love comes and goes like their good behavior does. My two boys we are adopting found this book very comforting and helpful in understanding our love for them and their growing love and acceptance for us. It stimulated a great discussion. Bravo to Dr. Laura!

5.0 out of 5 stars Explains a mothers love in a heart wrenching way., July 26, 1999

This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Hardcover)
Sometimes a mother loves her children so much she can't put her feelings in to words. I found this book an excellent way to express what she feels. I gave this to my 19 year old son. I wanted him to look back on this book and see the exact way I felt towards him. Sometimes this makes these feelings easier to understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Do You Love Me?, January 22, 2007
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Paperback)
I had a very ill little boy who sometimes would feel so sick and in pain, this would cause him to yell and hit. When he would feel better he would apologize and would ask me if I still loved him? I would tell him that "No matter what I will always love him". Everytime I would read him the book he would feel so much better! I read him this book everyday time and time again until he died. I know that he knew how much I loved him and this book made it easier for him a 7 year old little boy to understand the unconditional love mommy felt.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Own a Ton Of Childrens Books and Read Nightly to Our Kids, January 22, 2006

This review is from: Why Do You Love Me? (Paperback)
My seven-year old son has picked this one out several times to read. The subject of "Why Do You Love Me?" is a subject that all kids think of when they get in trouble, big or small. It explains the love of a parent being there like the sun behind the clouds, always present. I like the illustrations and my son noticed how the book makes the kid in the book seem real. For example, Sammy cleaned his room and yet was toys tucked under the bed and behind the door. I'm looking forward buying her other children's books to share with my kids.
