COMEBACK!!!,
By Zack (Malvern, Arkansas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me (Audio CD)
Garbage finally came back with a new sound and an awesome song. "Why Do You Love Me" is by far one of Garbage's best works. The long and highly anticipated album (Bleed Like Me: April 12, 2005) is sure to be one of the best albums of the year. The tracks, "Space Can Come Through Anyone", "Nobody Can Win", and "I Just Wanna Have Something To Do" are excellent tracks and can only be found on the "Why Do You Love Me" single. Don't miss your chance. BUY IT; YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!

Awesome single,
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me (Audio CD)
Despite what others think of the new single, I still say the pounding guitars and the live sound is just awesome. Some Garbage fans seek to have singles to be a carbon copy of Version 2.0, but this really was a good investment in my opinion. The B-sides are like the icing to the cake, 2 awesome b-sides that could of very well been on the album, and a awesome rendition of the Ramones song "I Just Wanna Have Something To Do". Definetly worth the money and more!

Comeback Single of the Year,
By
This review is from: Why Do You Love Me (Audio CD)
After surprising and in many cases, disappointing fans with the pop-lite beautifulgarbage, Garbage return with a vengeance with the blistering top 10 hit "Why Do You Love Me". This song features a pounding, instantly memorable guitar riff and a Blondie meets Killers type chorus. As the first single off of the long-anticipated Bleed Like Me (April 12), Garbage seems set to make a Green Day-like comeback in 2005.
Included are the fantastic b-sides "Space Can Come Through Anyone" and "Nobody Can Win", the exciting Ramones cover "I Just Wanna Have Something To Do", and the brilliant video for "Why Do You Love Me". DO NOT pass this gem up.

Well if you're a super Garbage fan of you just enjoy the spunky-er tunes that come from this band, than this is simply a must. The first song "Why Do You Love Me" comes from the album "Bleed Like Me" which I could not live without. The rest of the four song of the single are all non-released. "Space Can Come Through Anyone" is an awesome song, it's just so weird. "Nobody Can Win" is a slower song I think it sounds kind of like "Drive You Home" from "Beautiful Garbage". The last song, "I Just Wanna Have Something To Do" is Garbage's version of The Ramones, I like both versions. Plus the "Why Do You Love Me" vedio is on the single, and awesome!

B-SIDES!,

ok, you've all most likely heard Why Do You Love Me. PErsonally, I don't think it's fantastic, just ok.
BUT let's get down to the b-sides. "Space Can Come Through Anyone" is a great uptempo song and "Nobody Can Win" is a beautiful acoustic ballad, both of these could have been on the album replacing the less stellar "Why Don't You Come Over" and "Boys Wanna Fight". "I Just Wanna Have Something" to do is a great cover song that was originally released about 2 years ago on a compialtion.

Sure, it is the comeback song / single of 2005, and it's a great high energy song, but lets look at the whole CD. Then after the high energy hit "Why Do You Love Me" are 3 B-sides.
First of the B-sides is "Space Can Come Through Anyone." Its a very rockin' twangy song that sounds like it could have been on Garbage's first album. The vocals have a very hip hop feel compared to any other Garbage song. It blends a lot of genres into one song. "Nobody Can Win" is a mellow and charming song with a simple lightly strummed guitar. It is a dreamy song that paints a beautiful picture of fairy tails vs the reality of things. Lastly, "I Just Wanna Have Something To DO" is a cover of the Ramones song, and it has a high energy old school punk feel. After all, it is a Ramones cover. A crazy fun Ramones cover at that! If anything, this is why you should buy this single; this song can easily be on the radio. Now for the special part, when you pop the CD into your computer, you can see the music video for "Why Do You Love Me." It's black and white, artistic and shows singer Shirley Manson as a bad girl. She strikes more model poses than Madonna. Eventually the band gets involved for a little sit down session and it doesn't fit the high energy of the song. Then the video goes to color for her "thoughts" portion of the song. At the end she plays a more energetic music performance. The video isn't as good as the song or their other videos. For all its worth, this is a great single, mostly because "I Just Wanna Have Something to Do!"

Why Do You Love Me by Garbage is a fun and fearless song from my favorite band of all-time. Shirley Manson's vocals and songwriting is top-notch, love that redheaded lass! This import also contains three unreleased songs: A cover The Ramones classic, I Just Wanna Have Something to Do, Nobody Can Win, and Space Can Come Through Anyone. If you are Garbage nut like me, you must add this EP to your collection!

And it was worth the wait. Garbage is one of my favorite bands, so needless to say I was looking forward to the new album. Deffinatly on of their best since version 2.0. their are hints of some old school garbage in this album. Worth spending the money on in my opinion!

Space Can Come Through Anyone,
By Sip (Amsterdam, Netherlands) - See all my reviews

Though Why Do You Love Me is a good song on its own, there's another reason why this single is worth the purchase: the b-side Space Can Come Through Anyone. This song is good and should've been put on the album instead of the biggest weakness of Bleed Like Me: Sex Is Not The Enemy. Space is far more fun and innovative than the bland, uncreative Sex and has a slight Version 2.0 feel to it.
The completely acoustic Nobody Can Win is just okay, and shows that Garbage definitely needs more than just a guitar and the vague presence of a glockenspiel in the background to craft a good song. Also, a rock album like Bleed Like Me doesn't need an acoustic song, especially this one, since it would take away the raw feeling of the album. The cover I Just Wanna Have Something To Do didn't do much for me either, like nearly every cover Garbage has done. Since it got released on a compilation a few years ago, I think Garbage could've done far better by putting a new b-side on here.
