Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Grade 2-4-These series entries will answer many of the questions children have about the subjects covered. Dinosaurs has general information about when and how dinosaurs lived and offers theories about why they became extinct. In three chapters, Whales discusses "The Life of a Whale," "Toothed Whales," and "Baleen Whales." Flies tells about insects, their life cycles, and interesting facts and trivia about common species. Haircuts answers questions about the human body, including "Your Hair and Skin," "Your Bodyworks," and "Your Senses." The student-friendly question-and-answer format is appealing, with simple and concise one or two paragraph answers and attractive, colorful illustrations. Basic up-to-date information presented in a chatty, readable style.

Review

Older children will delight in and learn from the basic question and answer format of this series exploring dinosaurs and the human body. Detailed, full-color illustrations and intriguing questions such as "How did dinosaurs get their names?" and "Why do you shiver?" allow readers to skim for entertainment or read straight through to become an expert on the given subject. A 2000 Parents' Choice® Recommended winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Why Don't Haircuts Hurt, January 27, 2002
By A Customer
This book is really great for teaching kids how the body works. I like how it is written in question and answew form. It makes learning about the body understandable for children as well as interesting. The book covers all the questions that kids always ask about the body. I was impressed with how much information the book covered and how well it was presented. I'm sure kids of all ages will enjoy this book.
