Great Book Provides a Lot of Interesting Facts in an Easy to Read Layout Style,
By
This review is from: Why Eating Bogeys Is Good for You (Hardcover)
This thick little book is full of interesting stuff you've probably always wondered about. It also corrects a few myths or old wives tales as well. It is aimed at the children's market so you have a few cartoon style illustrations thrown in and the subjects covered don't go beyond conversations you would have with a kid. However it is very enjoyable for adults to read as well.
If you've ever wondered - Is eating bogey (boogers) actually good for you? Why do we have April Fools Day? How does a chicken sit on her eggs without crushing them? What's the difference between Holland and the Netherlands? Do goldfish only have a memory of only three seconds? What happens to kangaroo poo when they live in the mother's pouch? Why are people said to chunder when they throw up? Why don't people ride Zebras? What happens to a cow if you don't milk it? Why does a man's bicycle have a crossbar? Why don't we drink pig's milk? How come birds don't get electrocuted on power lines? Why are there locks on a 24hr supermarket open 365 days a year? The best books teach you stuff in an entertaining way and this book does that, Other great books in this genre are How Slow Can you Waterski? by Simon Rogers, (also released under the title Can You Drill a Hole Through Your Head and Survive?) Dr Karl Kruszelnicki's Great Mythconceptions: The Science Behind the Myths, Q & A with Dr. K, Pigeon Poo, the Universe & Car Paint: And Other Awesome Science Moments and the rest of his books. Do Blue Bedsheets Bring Babies?: The Truth Behind Old Wives' Tales, Why Do Men Have Nipples? Hundreds of Questions You'd Only Ask a Doctor After Your Third Martini, Shocking Science, So Gross (Over 100 Gross-Worthy Facts) and Everything You Need to Know About the World by Simon Eliot. |
