Format: Paperback
I have read many books over the years dealing with the holocaust, and have personally known many survivors.
This book was impossible to put down, and for many reasons!

The uniqueness of the book is in dealing with, in stark, powerfully emotional
terms, the mind of a survivor, and even more so, the mind of the children of
these amazing survivors. the fact that Henya's father could survive and keep overcoming
obstacles without surrender is a powerful message and a lesson to all of us, in the majesty of
man and in the contra-force of evil that plots to crush such a spirit.

I will leave it to the reader to discover the layers of meaning and any other
remaining questions.

this book would be a huge success as a movie- the main actors would have to be
the absolute best in expressing emotion and power.

A totally wondrous book of man, and standing up to evil.

Originally bought because I am friends with Henia Stein. I have read a few books about the Holocaust. Was interested on reading about someone on a little more personal level. I started reading it and couldn't put it down. This story touched my heart. It amazes me what can motivate someone. With perserverance we can accomplish almost anything. Life is not all roses. Though I only know Henia a short while, her vivacious personality and big smile always brightens up the room. Get a cup of tea and curl up and spend an afternoon reading about one mans lifes journey.
