Paranormal Suspense and Sizzling Romance!,

Treva Harte scores big with this wonderful suspense. There is a good run down of the plot from the first edition, but I just wanted to put in my two cents.
I am a long time fan of Ms. Harte's and this book doesn't disappoint. Nothing like a sexy telepathic employer trying to save the world to drive a woman to do something stupid...like try and help him. That and fall in love. In Why Me? the reader is treated to a fantastic supense filled plot, interwoven with believable and likable characters, and hot, hot sex on the run. You can't miss having a good time. Now that this is in print, make sure to get this one and put it on your keeper shelf! You will not be disappointed.

This novel reminded me why in other authors' plot lines involving telepathy the lead characters CAN'T read each others minds. It's very useful for spies but awkward much of the rest of the time. Having the twisted psycho-villain in the hero's head during love scenes - ick. Darker than it sounds, with not just telepathy but telepathic compulsion. Secondary characters weren't very interesting. Delivered on some suspense and heat, though.

Plot:
Wynn and Cassie need to stop The Bad Guys using only their Amazing Cleaning Powers, Hot Sex, and Telepathy. Comments: - Paranormal (telepathy) suspense. - 3604 kindle locations, 69720 words - m/f - explicit, loving, telepathic. Not overly frequent. The book is plot driven; the sex is secondary and only there to further our character development (Yay!). Aiming for longterm commitment. - The Evil Bad Guy is very Evil - he likes to do things to people with his mind, or make them do things. Not Nice At All. But not explicit. Opinion: "Why Me?" is a Really Good Paranormal Suspense. The characters are well drawn, the telepathy integral but believable, and the mystery/suspense riveting. It is a little slow in parts, but that makes sense for the book and it's timeline. Our heroes do what makes sense - when someone's out to get you, run! They aren't Secret Service; they can only do what is realistic within their capabilities. They don't carry guns. They don't have Amazing Martial Arts skills. They're (mostly) normal people in an extraordinary situation. And I liked it. "Why Me?" is a clever, creative book with a well-considered plot that I recommend. -CR- |
