Fantastic Book! I *LOVED* the book called "Why Pi?".
I've never done a video review of a book before, but this book inspired me to make it my first!
This book is terrific for anyone who loves math, or who wants to love math!
It is vibrantly colorful, and full of great short stories (mostly just a paragraph or two to illustrate each point) that clearly explain how basic understanding of math has helped people throughout history to figure out how the world works, and how to understand, measure and interact with the world we live in.
Five stars for this book!

I picked this up through Scholastic ordering at my childs school. He's an advanced first grader, and loves this book. It's written in bite-sized paragraphs (perfect for short attention spans!) full of interesting information. It's made to be able to be read for a page or two and picked up again later if needed...or make it one long sitting and re-read as needed. Bright colors and interesting pictures help fill out information ranging from ancient measurement techniques, discoveries by Copernicus, Galileo and Newton (to mention a few), measuring temperature, energy, electricity, light, pressure and sound. Lot's of good stuff here, and I'm only touching the surface. It's a good place to get your kids feet wet in why math and science are interesting. It's been good for the whole family to browse.

This book introduces many mathematical concepts while giving you the history of these concepts. The ideas are clearly presented in an entertaining way that makes it hard to stop reading. I found it to be educational and engaging. My wife and I are reading this at the same time as our kids, the book keeps moving around our house as each person takes off with it when it is left unattended.

Math can be fun? For centuries mathematicians have defined our world with measurements, weights, heights, sizes, and random facts. A whole culture of people have tried to turn numbers/math into a religion.

Why Pi? celebrates the history of our world from astronomy in the ancient world, measurements and the origin of pi, latitude, longitude, waves, and random facts. For the geeks at heart, this is their High School Musical Guidebook, their Coles notes to life. My daughter loves this book, and her sister ate it up!

Well compiled, illustrated and annotated. Highly enjoyable yet educational at the same time.

Math rooms, teachers, and libraries should not be without this tome.

Thanks.
Numerically speaking.

This was a really good book! It's got a ton of fun information about math and it's not boring, it definitely keeps the kids interested. Especially with all of the cool, colorful pictures. It's fun to have a book lying around that the kids can pick up and read about really useful information, and where all of the concepts of math that we use everyday come from.

I was really happy with the seller. It's a used book, but it is in good condition.
