Yvonne Vera, born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, tells her stories from a woman's point of view, in lyrical but unaffected prose, recreating the dark atmosphere of those months full of fear and hope.

Yvonne Vera was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. She is the author of Why Don’t You Carve Other Animals, a collection of short stories, and Nehanda, a novel. Both books were short-litesd for the Commonwealth Writers Award Africa Region in 1993 and 1994, respectively.
