It's one thing to just complain and buy anyway, but many of us did cancel our preorders and are here voicing our dissatisfaction with the new amazon. Many of us do have jobs but I'm a strong believer in getting the best value for my money. If not for newegg, I could just wait until Black Friday to save $ upfront but I was willing to buy this from amazon for a general credit. Think about how much more their profits are gonna go down if no one buys games from them AT ALL.
3 or 4 years ago is around when they stopped offering $20 credit - think that might have something to do with it? You make it sound like it's some sort of charity for them selling games to us. Your argument goes against capitalism 101: businesses are out to make a profit. If there was "no money" in videogames, they wouldn't sell them. How come Best Buy, doing far worse than amazon, is giving better deals? Why did amazon give $10 credit on Borderlands and $15 credit on X-Com, recent releases, but not on one of the biggest hits of the year? Simply put, they want to see how much they can get away with.
The Video Games industry makes 10 times more money then the Movie and Music industry's combined!!! If you don't believe me do your research. It makes me laugh when people say video games don't make much money. Did you know last year because of the economy there was only a couple of stores that made a profit. One of them was Gamestop so hmmmmm I wonder if video games make money.
@Ryan you could probably pay extra for it, but I have heard many people say that the free shipping has the item arrive on the release date. Anyways the Newegg promotion is expired so there's a no go for that, but the Microsoft store looks like it's still offering the MS points and $10 coupon.
You make many good points, C.S. ... And you should voice your dissatisfaction and tell Amazon they are losing your business to specific other retailers. That's the american way -- something Connor would fight and die for. My point was to those people that just whine and complain over and over and over again. They give off the impression that Amazon OWES them special promos and credits because they were born into this world. They feel entitled to those promos and credits because they are victims of video game abuse by the corporations that produce them and retailers that sell them. How DARE they make a profit on me, so they say. You are wrong, however, about Newegg. They are hurting, and badly. They will probably not make it into Christmas 2013. There are also several other online retailers that are on the brink of failure, such as TigerDirect and others that just can't compete anymore. Brick and mortar stores are also faltering, such as Best Buy. This is their last holiday season if they can't turn things around in their bottom line, and may go the way of Circuit City. That's the nature of capitalism. Amazon directly competes with two main forces in vide games now: Walmart and Gamestop. That's it. Look at their AC3 credits and bonuses and compare. I think you will see that they all balance each other out right now and will continue to do so throughout this holiday season. The wild card? Toys R Us: they might throw a curveball into things.....
Only time I got decent service at gamestop is when my friends worked there. These days a decent person won't last long there. I hate being badgered to preorder something and I know not to ask for their advice. The final straw was when they got caught telling employees to open new games, remove promo stuff like coupons, and sell the games as new anyway. They're straight up dishonest.
I actually didnt get any email that mines shipped from microsoft and the website still says processing. But to my surprise it was just delivered. Good job Microsoft. They have my business until Amazon can match
I got my email this morning from Amazon saying mine had not shipped yet but would ship soon. Guess im going to have to start shopping elsewhere and cancel this useless Prime membership. Amazon has definitely been slipping the last year on shipping times. Unacceptable when charging $80 a year to get fast shipping!!
