Anyone have any idea as to why this set only has 4 discs? The 1984 World Series went 5 games. Are they gonna cram 2 games onto one disc? Is it also possible that only games 1-4 would be included because game 5 was included in an earlier Tigers DVD box set?
If it were simply in the Amazon listing, I would think it's simply a typo but that cover-art looks official to me and it clearly says 4 discs.
The cover art and description do conflict each other. If the set is only four disks, the missing game would be the one Detroit didn't win. Most of the recent MLB boxsets (the Essential Games series) have been only 4 disks, so hopefully it's just temp box art based on those other type of releases. It would be a very cheap thing for them do do to through out one of the games (therefore making it an incomplete set) just so it can conform to the standard 4 disk release. It's also confusing since most of the World Series box set that have released have been exactly 7 disks. In the series that went less than 7, they would always add bonus games (usually LCS games) to get up to the 7 disk standard.
If it's conforming to a 4 disc standard, why then is the 2000 Yankees set a 5 disc release? The prices of both this and the 2000 set indicate that they're only including the World Series games instead of LCS/LDS games like sets from the past which is fine. I'm just happy they've started releasing the vintage World Series sets again. I'm hoping the next batch includes 1995, as a Braves fan, and 2003 since that's the only one we lack from 2000-present.
