Whynter RPD-651W Energy Star 65 Pint Portable Dehumidifier
We don't use the A/C much and the weather sure gets damp and oppressive at times. Our son got us these units for Christmas and we just started using them in March. Not the most interesting gift but turns out they are probably one of the better gifts I received.
This Whynter 65 pint dehumidifier is a must have in the muggy weather. We have a 40 pint unit in our bedroom and this 65 pint unit in the living room. Both are set to run continuously via the drain tube which we custom extended so that it drain into our flower bed outside. No sense wasting good water. We have both on probably 12-16 hours a day since I do work from home as well.
It has made a noticeable difference in the temperature you feel on your person. The lack of moisture makes breathing a lot easier as well and we've notice significantly less mildew growth on the walls in the bathroom or near a sink. There is a constant water flow in the tubes showing that these are really taking the damp out of the air. Both have been running very well and at this point we hardly notice them in the background. The are rather quiet when not on high fan speed.
We are very pleased with them and will get another for the basement very soon. They also look much nicer than your average dehumidifier.

So far the unit (dehumidifier) is working as described. It's located in fairly large basement area, with high humidity.(Whynter RPD-651W Energy Star 65 Pint Portable Dehumidifier).

Cons: email tech support, quality control

I tried Whytner 40-pint, and it hardly lowered the humidity in my 61f/50% humidity basement. Removed 1qt water in three days of "constant" running at 35%.
So I ordered their 65-pint (also at Costco.com), which was delivered with 2-defects!-
1- Tank Sensor was hanging loose, and I snapped it back in.
2- Loud vibrating noise coming from compressor, and hardly removed any water 1day after 24hr Continuous break-in!?-
I called CS,and explained problem (also then noticed side panel was bulged out?).
CS then called Tech Support, and TS said it sounded like the compressor had come loose?
CS said to email TS, and they'd "email" me back how to repair it.
I told CS I would try it, ONLY if a tech would walk me through it over phone ONLY!
CS said Sorry email TS Only!
I replied "NO WAY I'd Hassle with back & forth email, and I'll try a different brand"!
What Lousy Quality Control Inspection, and email TS if you have a problem! :o(

I ordered the Winex 50-pint with vertical pump to my Service Sink, and hope it's big enough (Free S&H at Home Depot...)-
