5.0 out of 5 stars Another ace in the ' bible ' series., January 26, 2006
This review is from: The Wicca Bible: The Definitive Guide to Magic and the Craft (Paperback)
I have a few of these books in the ' bible ' series, and I think they are all good. This one is no exception, with each section logically and simply layed out.

You know the book doesn't go into tons of detail, but enough to give you a good head start with your understanding of Wicca. Enough to make you go ' that's it, that's it for me !!! "

I have been involved in the craft for yars, but enjoyed this book nonetheless. I was also impressed that both hemispheres were covered on the wheel of the year. I am Australian and many times we are often forgotten.

The pictures are stunning, and at the risk of sounding condescending, this book really does a lot to clean up the image of what Wicca is. There's no 'dog on a string' type imagery here, just logical informative information.

A wonderful little coffee-table book with beautiful illustrations and tons of information on Wicca and its practices. While not in-depth, I highly recommend this book to those exploring the faith for the first time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wicca Bible, September 24, 2009

The Wicca Bible is jam packed with information. While this is normally good news, its writing style is some what lacking. because there is much to cover that some times it begins to sound more like an encyclopedia then anything else. But if you want to cover the basics without long drawn out in depth explanations this is your book. If you want to know the whys behind the scenes than this isn't the book for you. For me It was a great starting point for further study.

4.0 out of 5 stars Packed, March 29, 2011

This book is packed with information. Definitely a good guide for beginners. It even has a developing skills and knowledge section which is a good introduction to several fields.

However, I find that some of her information may go against more advanced practitioners, such as the ones about the Chakras. The gods and goddesses section does no justice to the plethora of Asian and Eastern pantheons; it instead focused heavily on Greco-Roman and Norse pantheons. I don't particularly like her correspondence, herbal, color, among others, information either as they are not as comprehensive as those found in other books.

I also find her organizational structure more qualitative or more anecdotal, whereas I like a more academic and outlined framework. It's not a bad thing, it just doesn't really suit me more.

Overall, I recommend you buy it, if not as a definitive beginner's guide, then definitely as a supplement.

This book is so pacted with information that I added to my small but growing library. Since it was the frist book on wicca it had a strong influence on what I bought later. As a general read on wicca there are very books that compair with it. Good for anyone who whats to know more on the subject
