A unique and wonderful history of Wichita & its aviation!,

This review is from: Wichita's Legacy of Flight (KS) (Images of America) (Paperback)
This book is a must for anyone interested in the history of aviation, or even the history of Wichita itself. The mostly pictorial book contains great photos of early Wichita (the old Miller Theater, the 81 Drive-In !!), its residents, and of course the airplanes that have made the city famous. Stuff I've never seen anywhere else. You'll spend hours immersed in the photos reliving the "good old days" or perhaps catching a glimpse of those days for the first time. Perfect for historians or enthusiasts, old or young. Well worth the price.

This is an awesome walk down memory lane for anyone who lived or visited there during the time periods covered. Especially so for aviation enthusiasts. An evolution of entrepreneurs and adventurers rarely seen in but a few places in the world. These were risk takers of both their money and their lives. For those of us fortunate to arrive in Wichita soon after WWII and become a part of this great opportunity, it provides hours of wonderful reminiscing. The city and surrounding areas grew rapidly with the burgeoning aircraft industry plus addition of McConnel AFB in 1950. My good fortune was to also grow and become personally acquainted with many of the people named in the companies ... truly great Americans! For the General Aviation buff, hard to beat, Ed Law |
