Review

Cadmus Aloysius Rankin was born on October 5, 1849. He died...well, not exactly. When Cad is gunned down in the street after trying to rob a bank, he's sure he is experiencing his life drain away. What he can't figure out is who the white haired little guy is who's telling him he's been given another chance to make good. Cad doesn't want another chance. Hell is just the place for him, it's no less than what he deserves. Cad is convinced he is no good and that it began even before he led his little brother into a swamp that cost him his life when they were boys. Michael had trusted him and he let him down. His brother's death has haunted him for years - but now it seems that it is his very brother's "essence" that is keeping him going, determined to help his brother make something of his life. Amy Lattimer is shocked to find out that her mother had been a high priced prostitute for many years before her recent death, leaving Amy feeling betrayed and angry. Determined to find the father that ran out on them, forcing her mother into prostitution, Amy becomes Amabelle Latourre and heads for his last known address. Amy is convinced that if her mother can make a living at prostitution, so can she, at least until she finds her father and the answers she needs. Cad finally comes to grips with his probationary status, and even comes to expect the little visits he gets from his angel, Dudley. Cad is instructed to complete a mission - clean up a town full of prostitutes, murders and thieves, and do it without the use of a gun, bad language, and of course, sex. It is clear Cad has his job cut out for him, but it only gets worse when he runs into Amabelle Latourre!Temptation at it's very best! Endearingly human yet delightfully wicked! Ms. Rogers sprinkles the west Texas desert with angels' dust and leaves her readers enchanted!Diane Potwin -- Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc. All rights reserved -- From Literary Times

More About the Author

Evelyn Rogers's first job was selling women's underwear in a downtown Houston department store.  She's since hawked candy at Sears, worked the switchboard at a commercial laundry, planned programs at an Air Force service club, taught English and was a librarian, the last two for 25 years in middle schools.
Each had its rewards and challenges, but no more so than her final chosen profession:  writer.  The award-winning author of 31 books and 8 novellas, she found great satisfaction not only in her craft but also in meeting readers across the U.S.
She and her husband live in San Antonio, frequently visited,  energized, and, yes, exhausted by their five grandsons.  But she still misses those up-close-and-personal visits with her readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better then 2 stars, June 15, 2001

I was very surprised to see that this book only got 2 stars from the previous reviewer. While I agree, that this is not a spectacular Paranormal it was touching and warm. At moments, humorous and sad. I would like to recommend that you give the book a chance and draw your own conclusions.

2.0 out of 5 stars Same old, same old. Predictable., July 16, 1999
I've always been a sucker for paranormal romances but this book is nothing special. It was just something I read to help pass the time. This is the second book I've read that's an "Angel's Touch Romance" and I'm beginning to think that all the books under "Angel's Touch" promise a lot more than they actually deliver!

I'm not much of a paranormal reader, but I loved Wicked. It was the first book that I ever read by Rogers and it sure won't be the last. Wicked was heart welming and funny enough for you to laugh aloud. The heroine is charming and the hero is to die for. I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes a little wit and a lot of passion in their stories.
