Book Description

April 1, 1996
Horrified when her parents arrange her marriage to the notorious Duke of Berenford, an alleged womanizer with questionable morals, Lady Diana Westcott is confronted by a jealous woman from Berenford's past.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Only weeks before her impending marriage of convenience, the Lady Diana Westcott is disconcerted by her strong attraction to James, the new stable groom; and when she discovers in London that James is actually her intended husband, the Duke of Berenford, anger and embarrassment at the deception almost destroy the wedding plans. First in a projected series about the Earl of Westcott's daughters, this romance loses steam as the lack of trust and resulting misunderstandings between the protagonists becomes tedious and a few too many relatives join in the fray. Still, the premise is good as are some of the secondary characters, which bodes well for future installments in the series. Kihlstrom (Dangerous Masquerade, Signet Regency, 1992) lives in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, in so many ways....., September 2, 2009

This review is from: The Wicked Groom (Paperback)
Although this book was written many years ago (1996), I just got around to reading it. The only positive thing I can say about it is, the premise is interesting. But that said, it is a premise that requires a much longer book in order to do it justice, or a much more talented writer. As it stands, it is merely laughably unbelievable.

Add to that poor plot development, not one single likeable character (not to mention one whose behavior made any sense at all), and endless ridiculous and completely contrived misunderstandings, and you have this mess masquerading as a book.

Enough said.
