Book Description

Assassination and annihilation, secrets and seduction, mud wrestling and marriage plans.

The Kolian Chronicles #4 - Wicked Problems

Hammer Mehran - space pilot, celebrity playboy, heir to a prestigious title and massive fortune, about to marry the hottest girl in the galaxy. What more could anyone want out of life?

The Dump - a neglected backwater Hammer is desperate to revitalise as one of his humanitarian efforts.

But when the overseer of The Dump is choked to death on a lump of mud, it falls on Hammer to sort out the political turmoil. The native species hate the humans, the humans are more interested in vice than installing flush toilets and mud wrestling seems to be taking off as the national sport - it's not going to be a walk in the park.

Combine this with an ex-girlfriend who's still trying to seduce him, a fiancee who's confused about her sexuality, a besotted fan club of teenage girls and the challenge of organising a wedding with the colour scheme of thunder, and it's going to be one hell of a headache.

If you like your heroes with a wicked side, your plots with a twist and safe storylines jettisoned out the waste chute somewhere around the Orion Nebula, then check out the 14,000 word free sample.

Approximately 140,000 words (470 pages).
Contains strong language and adult humour.
Can be read as part of the series or a stand-alone novel.

The Kolian Chronicles - an epic sci-fi adventure.

This is a "tell it like it is series" where you delve into the lives of the characters warts and all - the good, the bad, the steamy, the embarrassing. The books are infused with a lot of humour, but there are also some hard hitting scenes as the story progresses.

Please note the series is an adults only satirical comedy, including strong language throughout and some non-graphic scenes of violence, torture, drug use, prostitution and sexual scenes including MF, MFF and FF. A wide number of social themes are dealt with in the overall story arc, many of which are of an adult nature.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The story really is a page-turner, the characters interesting, surprising and yet you feel as if you have met them somewhere. I really enjoyed this book. It's well written, the dialogue is at times humorous as well as hard-hitting, and always believable. If you are looking for an adventure, a strange but intriguing world to dive into, this book is the one for you."

"Wicked Problems is yet another terrific addition to the Kolian Chronicles. I urge all prospective readers to read this brilliant book's sample and be blown away by the inventiveness of the dialogue, the laugh out loud humour and the terrific plot developments. This series is a bestseller in waiting, and it is only a matter of time before word of mouth spreads about how talented a writer Le Soum is and how enjoyable the Kolian Chronicles series is."

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, Have to read the rest of the series now October 27, 2011

Wicked Problems book four of The Kolian Chronicles

This is the first book I have read in The Kolian Chronicles and I feel compelled now to back track and read the rest.
This is an uncompromisingly gritty story and though it is science fiction and taking place in entirely fictional worlds there are parallels to every human and earthly problem, issue or action within the story.
Just about everything you could wish for happens, murder, love, intrigue, jealousy, adventure, war, compassion, plotting and revenge. You alternately love and hate the hero Hammer Mehran, something which keeps you glued to the book and wanting to know what happens next. A complex and alien morality pervades the book and you are reminded of every off world and alien planet adventure movie ever made. Incidentally, this book would make a great TV program or movie.
The story really is a page-turner, the characters interesting, surprising and yet you feel as if you have met them somewhere.
I really enjoyed this book. It's well written, the dialogue is at times humorous as well as hard-hitting, and always believable. If you are looking for an adventure, a strange but intriguing world to dive into, this book is the one for you. I am going back to read the rest of the series and I look forward to the next book, because there must be more.
5 stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked Problems...Enjoyable Outcomes March 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Wicked Problems" the fourth book in the Kolian Chronicles by Alex Le Soum is a not to be missed reading experience. In this book we find another murder, continuing jealousies, family plotting to stop the wedding of the century, and some mud wrestling thrown in for good measure. In this book we learn more of Mysior's family history and imagining where that information will go in future books.

Ms. Le Soum takes us, the reader, on quite a ride with her characters. She does such a great job of writing that we actual start to feel what they all feel and of course we root for our favorites. If you have not read a book in this spectacular series I urge you to pick up all four books as you could not read one and not want to continue. I'll be starting book five, "Parental Control" next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Le Soum Does It Again! January 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Wicked Problems is yet another terrific addition to the Kolian Chronicles. I urge all prospective readers to read this brilliant book's sample and be blown away by the inventiveness of the dialogue, the laugh out loud humour and the terrific plot developments. This series is a bestseller in waiting, and it is only a matter of time before word of mouth spreads about how talented a writer Le Soum is and how enjoyable the Kolian Chronicles series is.

Even the most talented science fiction writers are either good at constructing a compelling universe or portraying fascinating characters; somehow, Le Soum does both in Wicked Problems.

I particularly enjoyed the author's exploration of the relationships between Hammer, Mysior and Aisha develop against the backdrop of The Dump. The author shifts from moments of humour to romantic intensity with the ease of an Elizabethan playwright.

The final chapter of the book is my favourite of the entire series so far as it incorporates everything I admire about The Kolian Chronicles. I won't say too much as I do not want to ruin it for future readers, but it incorporates my two favourite characters. After all that happens in Wicked Problems, it is extremely heartfelt, but most importantly it has me looking forward to the next books.

If you like romance, science fiction and have a good sense of humour you must read Wicked Problems and the rest of the Kolian Chronicles.
