2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Like I Expected, June 28, 2009
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
Like the other reviewers, I had waited a long time for this one. Some of the plot tie ups were expected, but others just felt a long time coming. After remembering the battles in the other books, one thing became clear when reading this one-the authors didn't like killing off characters. For everyone that "died"-someone ended up coming back (hence I guess, "Resurrection") but I found myself wanting closure for some of the characters. At the end of this book I felt like almost every character had a near death, death, or ghost experience, and it ended up seeming like nothing but a jumble at the end. It was nice to finally have a conclusion to the series, but that is really the only reason to read this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed after much anticipation, November 9, 2010
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
The first books in this series were so wonderful and thrilling with many twists and turns, but alas, there were too many twists and turns for my liking in this one. I felt like I was discovering something new every few pages. It was just too much. I know it's fiction, but it was just way too much. Too unbelievable even for the fantasy genre. I was left feeling disappointed and disillusioned as well as very confused.

There were too many loose ends and happy endings. Why did Eli end up being "good?" Why was Owen left to live after it is known that he is Merlin's son? And why the heck did we have to include Merlin and Christian beliefs in the story? In the end, the pagans lose out to the one true " God." Yeah, OK *rolls eyes* And let me not even get started with Holly becoming blind and one of the Justices who keep things in balance. I loathed the ending. I know the authors were trying to give everyone a happy ending, which is something I always hate, but please do better. I mean, the main characters, Holly and Jer, received the most depressing ending. Holly can be only with Jer for a while in some stupid castle, but then she has to go back to her new job. So, where does that leave Jer and where does he go after that? How is that supposed to be a happy ending? For all that love between them, they never were together in the books. Kari was with Jer more than his so called soulmate. And oh yeah, Kari is some kind of recarnation of Karienne, Jean's mistress. Lame. And more reincarnations. Nicolette and Elijah are now Nicole and Eli? What? Apparently, the whole Deveraux and Cahors feud started with them in the 1200's. But it was so confusing that I did not get it. Nicolette and Elijah are in love and supposed to meet but end up disappearing. And one of the Moore ancestors goes to each family and blames the other for killing those two. But this makes no sense. Aren't both the Devearaux and Cahors French, so why are they in England with the Moores? Huh? I'm still scratching my head over that one. And how come no one figured out that it was the Moores scared by the Cahors and Devearaux powers combined that started and fueled the feud? Just totally confusing. There were way too many things going on that made no sense and did not come together.

From the wonder that was the first novel, the final novel and the conclusion to the series was far fetched and just out there. It was the most horrible of all. I would give it a 1 star but since I enjoyed the novels preceeding it and always like reading about witchcraft- I decided to be kind and give it 2 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally everything is resolved, June 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
The wait is over for me to read this book 6 long years after reading the others before this. I can't say I'm not glad that the story is finally finished, but now after reading it, I am sort of disappointed as to how the story and the plot unraveled and where they had led to. I'd imagined something more after all the chaos and climactic actions in the forth book but to me, nothing much more happened in this finale. I wasn't frightened for the characters, wasn't at the edge of my seat hoping everyone would end up okay. I'm sorry to say that the authors did not make me relate to the characters and feel the emotions that they were dealt with or the tragic events that they had to fight. I loved this series and had hoped for a great battle in this last book but sadly I felt it was lackluster than the rest. Thanks to amazon for having this novel in stock earlier than the supposed release date and the fast shipping. Thanks to the authors for finally finishing this series. I read it because I love books and I wanted to know what the ending had in store for my favourite characters no matter if it was good or bad. Because books take me to a whole different world and it just wouldn't be the same if I had made up my own story or ending of my characters. So to the fans of this series, read it to fulfill your curiousity and because you want to be taken to where your characters are and for closure to the story because that's what it was for me.
