5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Story of Victorian England
Denise Eagan's WICKED WOMAN captures the spirit and mores of Victorian England in a lovely romance. Ms. Eagan has a style and voice that are unique and pleasing. I enjoyed reading Morgan Turner's journey to capture her soul mate. Readers should put on favorite music and settle down in an easy chair for a pleasant read of WICKED WOMAN. 3.0 out of 5 stars Confused.
I was often confused about the main character, Morgan's, wherabouts when and why and how long until near the end although still wasn't completely understanding. The beginning and middle were good, exciting fun. Toward the end, I found Morgan's stubbornness to be absolutely annoying. 5.0 out of 5 stars Alluring tale of victorian love and lust, December 29, 2007
This review is from: Wicked Woman (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
This book captures Victomairn New England - the social rules, and the harsh justice meted out to those who did not conform. Morgan Turner is a sympathetic character - a woman trying to use the powers she has in this society to save her life. The romance evolves from forbidden electricity to deepening love, through the trials and adventures of the heroine. I enjoyed the steam and celebrated the triumph of Morgan and Captain Montgomery!

This debut romance recieved nomination from Romance Times Reviewers Choice - Best First Historical Romance.

Denise Eagan portrayed the Victorian era eloquently in this romance. I fell in love with the hero right off and found the heroine endearing throughout all of her adventures. I had a hard time putting the book down once I settled into a comfy spot and started reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Confused., July 7, 2011
This review is from: Wicked Woman (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
I was often confused about the main character, Morgan's, wherabouts when and why and how long until near the end although still wasn't completely understanding. The beginning and middle were good, exciting fun. Toward the end, I found Morgan's stubbornness to be absolutely annoying. I had to put the book in "time out" because I was getting tired of her resistance to marry, to listen, to go, to stay, yada yada yada. I realize that many a heroine has stubbornness as a pronounced trait and that is good storytelling, but I could not stand Morgan after she married Ward. If only her irratability could have been shortened to half a chapter. If only! I won't give this book any more lines than I have to. It was worth the read, certainly got me though some down time at work, but I will not be rereading it as often my custom of books I like.

I liked this book but she a little drawn out and the story has spots in it that she could have left out. Over all it was not a bad read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointing story, November 4, 2008
This review is from: Wicked Woman (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
The author built up an incredible love story and destroyed it with the characters having a warped acceptance of physical abuse. ~Affaire de Coeur

THE WICKED WOMAN

This has got to be one of the worst novels I have read in a long time! To engage in a lengthy discussion as to why this novel didn't score a hit would be a monumental waste of time. Though Egan gets here a C- for effort as her writing style holds promise - the less than plausible storyline leaves you wanting by the sheer lack of romantic engagement and lackluster, emotionless protagonists. The plot was tarnished by the lack of character development between the hero and heroine, secondary characters were not likeable and boring and there was no engaging spark thought the book. I tried to persevere to see if there were ANY redeeming qualities - but alas -this was a flop for me. Don't waste your time and money this one. Sorry Denise!
