Editorial Reviews

Review

"Grayson deftly nods to pop culture and offers clever spins on classic legends and lore while adding unique twists all her own. STARRED Review" - Booklist

"I love this take on an old story... Exceedingly endearing... Reviewer Top Pick!" - Night Owl Reviews

"A delightful antidote to the fairy tale and an entertaining read. 4 Stars" - RT Book Reviews

"Reality and fairy tales collide in this altogether delightful story... Book lovers will be thrilled by the inside look at the publishing world, while fairy tale fans will love the in-jokes. " - Publishers Weekly

The author manages to bring you along two very different paths that somehow merger perfectly into one very emotional and believable plot.

An amusing satirical take on images, public spins, and the publishing industry.

A fun and delightful story, read Wickedly Charming and find out what really happens to "happily ever after!"

A great spin to stories we all know...

This book does a great job of humanizing the Grimm characters... Many kudos to the author for her outstanding - and humorous - work.

Appealing, vulnerable characters... It's a story about second chances, and the message is a real one: you have to work for your happily-ever-after.

I am a huge fan of fairy tale remakes and was excited to jump into the story of Prince Charming and The Evil Stepmother. Who would think that Cinderella would get rid of that handsome Prince and that The Evil Stepmother actually had a decent bone in her old body?

If you are looking for some sexy and steamy scenes, then look elsewhere. There isn't much in the steamy department. While I enjoyed the attempt of creating a new fairy tale long after the original ended, I wasn't a huge fan of the book. It had such promise and could have been so much more, but it my opinion this book was just okay. It was an easy read with not much to absorb and the Prince was not what I was expecting as a Prince. The pace was slow in many parts of the book, making this a much longer read that it should have been. I actually struggled to finish this one where as it should have taken me no time at all.

If you are looking for a different HEA for your favorite fairy tales, then give this book a chance. It could have been that it wasn't my cup of tea since I am a huge Cinderella and Snow White fan.

I stopped reading romances decades ago. I don't particularly like them. But, I regularly read Kris's blog (as should anyone who writes for a living or wants to) and when she alerted her readers that Wickedly Charming was temporarily available for free download, I grabbed it.

I appreciate the opportunity to explore authors I'm not familiar with, so I've downloaded lots of free books. Most I don't finish. A few I've finished and forgotten.

HOWEVER, Wickedly Charming draws you into the story and intrigues you into continuing reading. Even as I noted the author using every romance trope in the book, I still couldn't put it down. Her characters are compelling enough to overcome the silliness of putting Prince Charming and Snow White's stepmother in modern day L.A.

Pure cotton candy: a sweet, ephemeral, irresistible treat. If you like sweet romances, or even if you don't but enjoyed fairy tales once upon a time, you'll have fun reading Wickedly Charming.

Off to search for any other Grayson books available in ebook.

This book was WICKEDLY charming and oh so original! I hate that cover because it's so stinkin' misleading....there's such a great story behind this cover!! I loved the whole concept of a wronged wicked step-mother wanting to tell the world that the Grimm Brothers and Disney got the whole story messed up!! I absolutely fell in love with Charming...he's a book nerd and doesn't want anything to do with being a Prince! I had a fun time reading this story and the author kept my attention the entire time. There wasn't a cheesy or eye-rolling moment in this book. I want to read more by this author!! If you're looking for a book to just kick back, lose yourself and escape from reality for a few hours...this one could be it!

This book had a terrific concept, but was poorly executed. It was boring, right from page one. There was too much author speaking, not enough story. I never found myself drawn into the story or falling in love along with the heroine. I think the author got so bogged down in the details of creating the story world that the actual story was overlooked until the end. I found myself checking often to see how much I had left. By the 50% mark there was no significant building in the plot line to get me excited about the climax or the ending. Yes, it was getting a tad bit more interesting but at a pace that negated any enthusiasm for the story and did not make you think that the climax was going to come. I forced myself to finish the book because I like to finish what I start. I did find it ironic that the last 30% of the book went on and on about good writing and how pace was so important. At that point her pace did pick up a bit- but the conflicts that are supposed to drive the climax fell very flat and were so easily solved.

I read alot. And I read alot of different genres. I generally like twisted fairy tales and HEA books provided they have a point. I like unlikely heroes/heroines, ones that normally get passed over in real life. I like clean stories, and if there is a good storyline- I can enjoy steamy ones too. I opened this book openmindedly. This one had many of the individual components for a great book- beginning, middle, end, character development, etc. But it lacked good pacing - I found that the final result had me frequently putting my kindle down out of sheer boredom. Christine Grayson seems to be an okay author and has a grammar editor- I might be inclined to try another one of her books in the future.

Long after the not-so-happily-ever-afters in their stories, Snow White's 'wicked' step-mother, Mellie, is trying to change things for others who have received the same bad rep she's been saddled with and Prince Charming, now known as Dave Encanto, is struggling on after his divorce from Ella.

I really enjoyed this offbeat tale of two middlish aged faery tale characters who are living in our world. There are parts early in the story that are a bit bogged down by Mellie's angst and her anger, but once things get rolling the story ends up being sweet and heart warming. Dave is truly nerdishly charming and so much better a hero than the young shallow besotted Prince of Cinderella fame. And I liked that the maligned step-mother is the one to come to the rescue when Charming is faced with a seemingly unsolvable parenting delemma.

I was surprised to discover the mention for a sequel at the aftwerward materials in Wickedly Charming and even more surprised to discover that the next book Utterly Charming is actually a story that I read several years ago. I really liked Grayson's series which featured past faery tale characters in the present day and gave them another chance at a happily ever after. I am glad that these light (and mild) contemporary fantasy romances are getting a second turn in the spotlight.
