Chalk board fabric was great !! It is a bit tricky to sew with and a needle in your machine that is for heavy duty fabrics worked great. The product arrived very quickly and all projects have turned out wonderfully. If you are looking for a fun item for children this is it !! Colored chalk works great on it and the kids have had hours of fun while waiting for their meals at restaurants. I loved it really.

The chalkboard fabric was for use with my preschoolers to use with practicing their handwriting and letter formation. We used this twice a week and it was FABULOUS!!! I cut placemat size rectangles for each child and when they were through they simply rolled them and placed them in their cubbies.I plan on buying more of this fabric for my students next school year. The kids I have now will take the other ones home at the end of the school year as gifts from me.

I too bought this fabric to make chalkboard placemats. It is a little tricky to sew. You need a heavy duty needle, and try to keep it as flat as possible while sewing to keep the seams straight. Don't let it hang off the bed of the sewing machine while you are sewing or your seams will be crooked. You can't use pins to hold it in place as you sew because the pins will leave permanent holes, so keep any pins in the seam allowances. Also be careful not to let the iron touch it - any seams must be finger-pressed. When you are done sewing, keep any leftover fabric rolled, not folded to prevent creasing. Before you use it as a chalkboard you have to "prime" it by rubbing a piece of chalk all over the fabric. The kids love the placemats!
