The product works just like I wanted it to. It was a little thick for my window track because I used it in a thin window in my enclosed patio. However, I suspected this might be the case when I ordered it but we were still able to make it work with a small modification. It does fit nice and snug in the window frame and I don't forsee any problems with the comings and goings of my small dogs causing it to become loose.
It would have been nice if the product had come with a foam insulation strip to put between the two window panes when the bottom window pane is open (also usually found with the purchase of window A/C units, etc), but this can be picked up at a home improvement store. So far I haven't experienced any major rain storms or driving rain against the panel so I can't comment on its ability to stand up to any rough weather. However, it isn't classified as a rough weather door, and there isn't any extra weather "seal" (bristle-type material) along the sides of the flap as some other pet doors. Thus, I would expect there could be some leakage with driving rain against the pet door. This is a sturdy product and works great without requiring you to put a permanent hole in anything.

We moved to a new house, and had no doors or sliders to set up a traditional doggie door. Although my husband had to build them a ramp outside and steps inside, they now have freedom of movement in the fenced yard.It was easy to set up in the sash window, although we did add a little extra molding to help seal it from the wind.
