5.0 out of 5 stars Bad news spreadhead, ya gotta get the dvd...., December 18, 2002

If you already own the vhs to this great show, ...and if you have a dvd player, it's time to shell out another ...[undiscloseddollar amount]. The picture quality is better, the audio sounds much better with a 5.1 mix. The main reason though, if better sound and video aren't enough, is that as a bonus they included the wonderful long out of print "Live at the Georgia Theatre" show as well!!! Great early Panic performance! Five stars is putting it mildly. Buy this now!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Title Could Be More Appropriate, December 23, 1998
By
Kent Bell (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This video commemorates Music Day in Athens, GA April 18, 1998 - specifically hometown music heroes Widespread Panic and their record-breaking CD release party. For the group's first-ever live album "Light Fuse, Get Away" they decided to throw a little party by having a free show. Well, 70,000 to 100,000 people showed from all over the country. I personally attended with devoted fans from Montana, Colorado, and Kansas. Panic friend and Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton directs this concert video and intersperses scenes from Music Day and locations in and around Athens itself. Memorable scenes include Athens Mayor Gwen O'Looney urging the crowd to not "destroy [her] town"; a wedding that took place in Athens earlier in the day; and lead singer John Bell (JB) singing the national anthem at the UGa-Kentucky baseball game earlier in the day.

This is a must have if you like the Panic, and if you've just heard them, this is your opportunity to see the boys in action. Also comes with a four-track CD from the 4/18/98 show.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The medicine took", April 23, 2000

This video is a must for all panic lovers. The video compares to bringing an actual live Panic concert straight to your living room. This video will never get old, as never do Panic shows or their music. For those who cannot attend every show: "Light the fuse and get away!"

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like music, you'll like panic, December 9, 1998
By A Customer
Widespread Panic is perhaps the most consistent band on the road today. Since the band formed and began releasing records, every one has been a gem. From collaborations with Vic Chestnutt on "Brute, Nine High a Pallet" To their own magical recordings like "everyday", space wrangler, and "light fuse get away", they never let you down. A fine mix of beautifully written music, and adventuresome improvisation, this video captures the spirit of one day in athens, ga I would love to have experienced. Luckily, this video provides me that opportunity.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Honest Tune......, April 26, 1999
By A Customer
This magical video recaps one of the biggest concerts in Panic's long, widespread career. As a spreadhead myself, I think that the video was a brillant collaboration of not only the band's great music, but also of he devoted fans and the people of Athens, who put them on the map. It is a must for any music fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Athens will never be the same!, May 24, 2000

Downtown Athens was packed with more than 75,000 people to here this free live event. Widespread Panic is one of the most talented musical groups out there. In this video you will see that this Athens based musical group is one of the best. The video is great, but if you have not experienced a live show then you have not experienced the full affect.

4.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!, March 6, 2004

This is a gret dvd. Not the best. I put it behind Abb at the Beacon and Deepest End on best jam band dvds. But the hole band is tight, and herman is great on the keys. He adds so much shape to this dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Widespread Panic "Panic in the Streets" = The Perfect Cure for A Widespread Panic Attack!!!!!!!!!!!, May 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is some serious "Jam Band" music at its best by Widespread Panic. The concert was filmed outdoors, downtown, in their hometown of Athens, Georgia. It was filmed in 1998 as an album release concert for their new album "Light Fuse Get Away." John Bell, Michael Houser and the rest of their 6 piece band are outstanding. The crowd is really, really into it, making this one great concert DVD. Plus, you get bonus performances of Widespread Panic performing from the Georgia Theater, during 1991.

Songs include:
1. Disco
2. Tall Boy
3. Love Tractor
4. Aunt Avis
5. Chilly Water
6. Porch Song
7. Pilgrims
8. Fishwater
9. Space Wrangler
10.Ain't Life Grand

Then you get bonus material as follows:
Aunt Avis (Music Video)

Songs Performed at the Georgia Theatre in 1991:
1.Send Your Mind
2.Pigeons
3.Walking (For your Love)
4.Mercy
5.Makes Sense to Me
6.Mercy (Reprise)
7.Rock

This is an outstanding Live Concert DVD by Widespread Panic. It's the perfect cure for a "Widespread Panic Attack". I highly recommend it. Thanks!!!!

Man what an awesome video...gave me chill bumps. Went down in history as the largest release party ever. Lots of awesome close ups of the band and some AMAZING scenes of fields, and woods and stuff, very cool. A must have for any panic fan. Also includes a clip of JB singin the national anthem at a baseball game
