This wonderful disc seems to be out of print, which is too bad. Chorzempa is in a class by himself with this terrific music. The justly famous Toccata of the 5th by itself is worth the price of admission. You'll never hear it better performed. If you want to get the full effect, turn out the lights and crank up the sound as high as you can stand it -- without disturbing the neighbors. The Toccata in sheer energy and drive beats anything heavy metal can dish out, and Widor makes logical sense. BTW, I looked long and hard to find an orchestrated version of this music and, to my surprise, no one has done it. I would have thought Ravel, Respighi, or Busoni, three of the 20th century's greatest orchestrators, would have -- but no. Too bad.

I bought this Cd from an Amazon seller because my local library being Christchurch City Libraries no longer have this CD any more in their CD collection. Up to a year ago or so I would borrow it every time before I would go to Akaroa and take it over with me. I would listen to it whilst I am in the French styled settlement of Akaroa. Now I have my own copy and very happy with the very cheap price I paid for it and the great condition of it.
Charles Marie Widor the French Composer is famous for the Toccata from the Symphony no 5. The performance of the whole CD is stunning. Daniel Chorzempa is the master in this music and the Cavaillé-Coll organ is ideal for the music. I urge you to listen to this CD.

Simply amazing the organ music of the master Chorzempa, which sounds whole symphonies by heart (without the aid of the score). High quality audio recording, despite the incision has many years.
