This review is from: For Widows Only! (Paperback)
For Widows Only! is exactly what it says... a helpful guide and friend for meeting, handling and accepting all the stages of grief for widows of all ages. Annie Estlund writes with real insight and honesty about her own experiences and invites you to share the journey with her. Widows everywhere will identify with the feelings she exposes, and thus find words that they themselves can use to describe and deal with their own grief. Annie will become a friend, someone who understands and has patience with all that we go through. Annie's voice speaks clearly for all who have ever lost a husband or a partner. She also offers us a web site to visit with other widows and share our feelings. Annie even answers questions and offers other resources. You can visit her at http://groups.msn.com/ForWidowsOnly Her wonderful book, that should be on every women's bookshelf, including professionals, is a milestone in the concept of one person reaching out to another with help, comfort and support. I only wish that I had had this resource for many of my clients during my years of working with widows in my practice. I encourage everyone who reads this to buy For Widow's Only! immediately and to pass this on to all of their friends.

This review is from: For Widows Only! (Paperback)
Annie wrote a powerful, wonderful book. I felt her deep shock followed with grief and anger. She then presented the steps to her recovery. Her books organization gave wonderful guidelines to assist one throught the loss of a love one. I have suggest this book to several of my recently widowed friends and theyfelt it was very helpful.

I wish I didn't need this book,
This review is from: For Widows Only! (Paperback)
My boyfriend died after a 2 year illness. While I knew how sick he was, I still wasn't prepared. This book has really helped me deal with things that have come up. I would also recommend it to women whose husbands are seriously ill; it almost seems morbid, but I wish I had gotten it sooner. I might have been better prepared for the immediate after-math and funeral preparations.

I read about Annie's book on the website For Widows Only. The book is excellent and has many helpful sections. I lost my husband only 3 months ago and am "grasping at straws" trying to cope, with 2 teenagers also! Thank you Annie for writing about your grief and recovery to help others.

A must read for widows,
This review is from: For Widows Only! (Paperback)
This book was just what I was looking for. As a 49 year old widow I was reeling with grief after the recent death of my husband. Reading other books on this subject helped, but I was still searching for more. I found this book to be very helpful and comforting. It addresses many questions, thoughts and emotions I had and still have. If you find yourself in this very hard situation this book will be like a good friend.

Best book I ever read on the subject..., September 29, 2006By Nancy Kraft, Muscatine, IA Dear Annie, I am Jan's old, old friend from childhood. She, very kindly, game me a copy of your book. I literally devoured it on the plane coming home. I was so impressed that I bought another copy and marched it right to our local library and insisted that it go on the shelves and not in the book sale! I also encouraged my local book store--independent (if you can believe that!) to buy a copy for their shelves. I told them it was the best book that I had read on the subject. I hope they did. My husband passed away 8 years ago. What your book did for me was confirm all that I'd been through--that I hadn't 'over done' or 'under done.' I loaned your book to a friend here in Muscatine whose husband died of a brain tumor, at 53, last fall. She is, of course, devastated still. But she returned the book last week end and thanked me so much for it. She said that it helped her immensely. I wanted to say thank you for your talent and caring in writing such a comprehensive and helpful book. May God bless you in all that you do. Nancy Kraft, Muscatine IA

Very informative even if you aren't a widow.,
This review is from: For Widows Only! (Paperback)
A friend of mine recently lost her mother. After reading this book I felt I was better able to help her and to also understand her moods. I also have a friend whose husband died about 2 years ago. She was only in her 40's. I felt I was better able to have conversations with her that benefited her and hopefully made her feel better. I ended up giving her a copy of the book also. I would recommend this book to everyone because unfortunately we all have to deal with death in our lives either through friends or family.

This is the first book I got about being a widow. It has been my "go to" book whenever I think I'm going insane and that I think no one could possibly understand. "For Widows Only" touches on about every thought, experience and feeling that is related to being a widow...I don't feel so lost, unsure and crazy anymore because of this book.

I got this book about 3 weeks after my husband suddenly died. I was so lost and feeling like I was going crazy. This book explains the stages of grief a widow encounters, and most importantly assures the widow she isn't going crazy and she isn't alone in her feelings. I have had to re-read portions of the book because while I read it and understood it the first time I have forgotten so much in those first few weeks. We tend to think of widows as people who have retired and lived with their husbands a long time. But I, like hundreds of others, lost my husband in the prime of life. This book covers all ages of widowhood. I highly recommend this book to any one who has lost a husband, or as a wonderful gift for a woman you know beginning the healing journey of widowhood.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!,

Annie's book is like a "friend in a book". There is so much good information on each page, that if I just read it for 1-2 minutes a day it was worth it. Note, it is written from the perspective of a slightly older widow with grown children, but she does address younger widows. It's also not strictly a financial guide, but more of a "everthing else" guide. I'm glad she wrote it!
