Editorial Reviews

From the Author

My elevator speech is that I write suspense.

If I'm on a train I can add that my suspense has romantic elements, but I don't consider my writing Romantic Suspense. After all, Dean Koontz often includes romance, sex, and HEA, and he's not considered a Romantic Suspense author.

And if I'm on a plane, bless the person next to me! I will include that I strive to leave my readers with a socially redeeming quality. Not easy to do with murder and mayhem! In my first release, Widow's Row, that message is that I believe prejudice is born of ignorance. With awareness we may just gain acceptance, and just maybe, we can embrace!

Look for CoverBoy, with a release date of Fall-2011!

About the Author

Award winning author Lala Corriere is published in everything from the Washington Post to regional magazines in the US and the UK. Her writing has received acclaim in the Denver Post, Arizona Star, Washington Post, Tucson Lifestyles, Home & Garden, The Sentinel, and the Trinidad Times. Since early childhood, Lala has found a passion in all the arts. She is a painter and a former stage performer. Early work careers blended selling high-end real estate in Colorado where she was soon to become president of an interior design firm, Connoisseur, Ltd. Extended university coursework focused on the fine arts, but the lure of writing proved even stronger. Lala’s fictional work consumes her. She freely says she much prefers ‘lying and making stuff up’. Her fictional suspense writing includes subplots with socially redeeming revelations. This is her moniker. Her favored acclaim to fame has nothing to do with her success in book sales, but rather the blurb from the Master of Suspense, Sidney Sheldon, and his continued mentorship until his passing. Lala writes suspense with romantic elements, eager to point out that it doesn’t fit into the confines of true romantic suspense. Available titles include Widow’s Row and CoverBoy. Her soon to be released third book, Evil Cries, promises to be full of surprises, for truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance and suspence with a twist December 11, 2010
By H.M.C.
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Widows row is totally embedded with suspence and romance that twists and turns in every direction. You can feel the atmosphere go from one extreme to the other when Breecie Lemay is in the company of her father as she tries to unravel the mystery of her mothers death. You let her take you into places you don't think you want to go but you can't put the book down any more than Breecie can stop looking. There are surprises up to the very end.
The characters are described in a way that makes you feel as though you know them. You begin to love them or dislike them as much as Breecie herself does. Very well written.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fast-paced story filled with interesting characters December 6, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
In Lala Corriere's debut novel, she's created a cast of characters ranging from a tranny to a two-timing scam artist to a father who somehow manages to justify the horrific situation in which he places his daughter. Breecie Lemay. a lawyer and a writer, is a bundle of emotion and logic that gets all tangled up when she deals with a father she could never please. Trying desperately to play the part of dutiful daughter, she takes her ill father home only to discover a terrible clue that leads her on a journey to find the truth about her mother's death. Corriere's strength is in these characters. I had to keep reading because I needed to know they would be all right. She even manages to weave in a lovely romance that takes a little of the edge off the ugliness of what family can do to family. I recommend Widow's Row as a good read and look forward to more from Corriere.

2.0 out of 5 stars No, I didn't love it..... April 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Like another reviewer stated, I read to the end because I always finish the books I begin, but the foul language was such a turn-off I had to put it down for a while to read something less annoying. The foul language was beyond what was necessary to tell the story, and was what lowered the book to "trashy" for me. The story was somewhat interesting, but it didn't take long to figure out the connections between the dots. I am very glad that this book was free and will not download another by this author.

More About the Author

Lala was no doubt a premiere and loyal monthly subscriber to Dr. Seuss's children's books, and years later, one of the first teenage girls to hide Erica Jong's 'Fear of Flying' deep under the folds of her mattress. Lala's mother taught her the love of books by devoting daily reading time.

From early childhood, Lala has been passionate about all the arts. She is a painter and a former stage performer. Early work careers blended selling high-end real estate in Colorado, where she was also president of an interior design firm, Connoisseur, Ltd. Extended university coursework focused on the fine arts, but the lure of writing was even stronger.

The seeds of her writing journey were sown by Lala's fifth grade teacher, Miss Macey. She was the first mentor to suggest Lala consider a career in writing. That extension of the arts through the written word, and a bold commitment, turned into a full time passion in 2001.

Career Highlights:
* Published in magazines, newspapers, writer's guides and journals.
* Award winning Author
* Endorsement and long-term mentorship by the late Sidney Sheldon
* Endorsement from Andrew Neiderman, author of the Devil's Advocate
* Her newest novel, Widow's Row, was released in November, 2010
* Her second book, Coverboy, has a release date of March, 2011

Lala writes suspense with romantic elements. While she enjoys vivid descriptions of the most nefarious of characters, she also insists on including a redeeming social message in her work, bringing readers to experience human conditions in ways that many may not be familiar. 'With a deeper awareness,' Corriere says, 'comes understanding, be it a small acceptance or a life altering epiphany.'

Readers and reviewers applaud her hallmark original plots, her in-depth character portrayals, rich scene settings, and authentic dialogue, all delivered with a fresh new voice.

Lala is a desert rat. She nestles in the southwestern US with her husband of over 20 years, Chuck, and the kid-cats, Bibelot, Sidney and Charlotte. She has three sons: Jason, University of Colorado. Cameron, Vanderbilt University. And Tyler, University of Puget Sound.

She's a full-time writer. Interests include her professional critique partnerships and active memberships, art, gardening, entertaining, bridge, and enjoying the abundant wildlife that find sanctuary on her grounds.
