The flute of the late Manuela Wiesler is a delight to listen to, and the music seems to take flight as if it were a robin in early spring. The flute passages are played completely without orchestral accompaniment which adds a wistful dimension to this recording. The works of several composers are represented here and Ms. Wiesler displays her complete mastery of her instrument as she glides effortlessly from one composition to another. A wonderful addition to any music lover's library.

I was not familiar with Manuela's work, but this was the only recording of the Lipatti Introduction & Allegro that I could find. Wow! What a fabulous rendition! As a bonus, there is a variety of other music on the cd as well.I'm now a Manuela Wiesler fan! She has a gorgeous sound and fantastic technique. The recording quality is excellent also. Well worth the price. |
