Book Description

Guthrie, Oklahoma, 1906

History teacher Ellie Henderson, has been a thorn in High School Principal Max Colbert’s side ever since he took over three months ago. When she’s not flying by his office, late for her class, with books and papers jumbled in her arms, she’s attending Suffragettes meetings against his orders.

Because of her family connections, Max can’t fire her, but he can certainly find someone to marry her, and keep her busy in the kitchen--and far away from his school. Max soon finds that what seemed like a good idea can turn into disaster when Miss Ellie Henderson is involved. The woman is a master at getting into trouble.

With the Christmas season in full swing, he has many opportunities to introduce her to prospective husbands. However, he gets the uncomfortable feeling that no one is worthy of the minx...

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely charming December 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
What a charming, humorous, engaging story. It deserves every bit of five stars. While the story is a follow-up to Miss Hutton's, A Run For Love, this Christmas tale works just as well as a stand-alone. She has managed to give us the fully developed characters and believable plot so often missing in short stories. Check this one out, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ellie Henderson and I would be great friends! December 31, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ellie Henderson and I would be great friends! It was like following my alter ego had I been born into her world. This beautiful young schoolteacher desired a self-directed, independent life and pushed through the restrictive protocols of her time to grab it with humor, savvy, and finding the romance of her life along the way. Such an endearing and delightful story, perfect at any time but especially engaging at Christmas!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy yourself a Christmas gift! December 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
If you decide to buy A Wife by Christmas, you will not be disappointed in this delightful step back in time. A well written, romantic sequel to Ms. Hutton's first novel, A Run for Love, features Ellie Henderson, a turn of the century school teacher, who following in her Aunt Tori's footsteps, is every bit as tenacious, independent and feisty. Handsome principal, Max Colbert has his life, career and future planned. It does not include a headstrong Suffragette who constantly defies his authority and challenges him on all levels. But things do not always turn out as anticipated. Especially when you combine undeniable attraction, an array of comical mishaps, endearing moments and the magic of Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful book! April 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ellie is such a wonderful character. My only fault with this book is that it wasn't longer. But, considering it was so short it was amazing how involved you could get with the characters in such a short time.
Ellie is so funny you will laugh at her as she leads Max on a merry chase through out the book. It would be interesting to have another book on their lives after marriage. I'll bet living with Ellie would never be boring.
Such a fun book that's impossible to put down.
Anxiously awaiting the story of Rachel and Hunter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful! December 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a delightfully charming tale with engaging characters. Though short, I found A WIFE BY CHRISTMAS an enchanting read from start to finish. Ellie Henderson is a willful heroine and Max Colbert a no-nonsense sort of hero. Oil and water at the start of the story, these two are destined for each other, even if they don't realize it. I loved watching their romance bloom, and found the romantic elements wonderfully done. This is a lovely historical novella, a heart-warming Christmas tale and a romance with passion.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Love Story with Humor! June 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A Wife By Christmas is truly a wonderful read...and don't let the title fool you...this is way more than a Christmas story...this is a fun LOVE STORY complete with humor and tight family bonds!

I enjoyed touching base again with many favorite characters from A Run For Love...like Tori & Jesse and Michael and many more.

Max Colbert starts off as a stodgy, disciplined man who doesn't want any type of upheavel in his life. Ellie Henderson is upheavel times ten! Her spirited determination and well meaning ways are just what Max needs to loosen up.

When he comes up with a plan to marry Ellie off to anyone he can think of...all in an effort to get her out of his mind and life...it totally backfires. He realizes his own feelings for her in the process and in between many fun and funny scenes.

You just can't help but fall in love with both Max and Ellie and root for them on their journey.

I will definitely be looking for more books written by Ms. Hutton :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Heartwarming Love Story October 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
What a terrific story. I loved the feisty heroine with a mind and a will of her own, and the straight laced and frustrated hero trying to make her behave like a proper lady. Callie writes an awesome love story that made me smile. I've got the first in the series, A Run For Love, on my Kindle right now.
