4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, Romantic and F-U-N !
This was my first Patti Berg novel, and it will definately NOT be my last. I fell in love with Jack myself! And Samantha Jones has to be one of the best characters I've read in a long time. She is smart, honest, hard working and a pure romantic at heart. If your looking for a romance to get completely lost in for a while, look no further. "Wife For a Day" is...

Note to Patti Berg... Any chance of Lauren Remington getting her shot at a happy ending ?

4.0 out of 5 stars This book made me Laugh!!!!, October 3, 2000
This was my first Patti Berg book, but I can definately say that it won't be my last. I found her to be a refreshing writer who writes what she knows about and has characters who are real. Sammantha is an honest to God hard working young women who is just trying to make ends meet. Jack is a rich bachelor who will do anything to make his sister happy, even being unhappy himself. Then Sam comes to Jack's room to alter his tux and wham....the whole thing begins. I can't say that I blame Sam for taking the money to be Jack's wife-to-be when a loan shark is after her. ( I can't say that I blame her for going to the loan shark in the first place....to bury her mother.) I did find that the book "suddenly resolved" the problem of telling the family that Sam is Sam and not the real wife-to-be, but the love story of the two falling in love is enough to make anyones heart miss a beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Read!!!!, August 26, 1999
I laughed, I cried, I did not want this book to end!!!! I was pleasantly surprised that the author was able to develop her characters so well in such a short, fast paced read. This is my first Patti Berg book and it will not be the last. I now have a new "favorite" author. Patti--please consider writing Mike Flynn's story!!

I bought this book based on the online reviews. I couldn't believe I was reading the same book as was being reviewed! I couldn't even finish this book. The story was poorly developed. Ms. Berg used very obvious plot devices which glared out at me and, as hard as I tried, I couldn't believe the situation. The feeling of the story was one of someone trying too hard to fit every explaination in for why this ridiculous situation was happening that the heart of the characters did not come through. There was no connection nor flow in this story. Did not one of you notice that Samantha's eyes were brown on page 21 and "hot green" on page 31??? Then they were back to whiskey colored a few pages later. This glaring mistake was so distracting. I wish all the best to Ms. Berg but I can't say that I will be buying any more of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Story - Quick Read, December 12, 2003

I have previously read Stuck on You, Something Wild and Looking for a Hero. I've really enjoyed Patti Berg's books! They cause me not wanting to put the book down until it's over... It's a great read!

I didn't know to read the books in any sort of order so I was introduced to Jack and Samantha in Something Wild after they met... I really like how Patti Berg overlaps her characters, giving each their own story! This is about Jack Remington and Samantha Jones. Born to Be Wild contines with Jack's sister Lauren and Max Wild. Something Wild is about Max's sister Charity and Mike Flynn, Jack's best friend. Then Stuck on You is about Charity's old friend Logan Wolfe and Scarlett O'Malley!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous romantic comedy....A Must Read!, February 18, 2002
By
I was positively thrilled with this book! It grabs your full attention from the 1st couple of pages and holds it through the entire book! I just couldn't put it down.
Samantha is as down on her luck as you can get. She's had a hard childhood and her adult life isn't much better. Her home is an old, beat-up vw bug, she just lost her Mom and borrowed money from a ruthless loan shark to pay for her moms funeral and burial expenses. She's just been fired from her job as a tailor but before she goes she borrows a sewing machine for one last job for the millionaire rancher Jack.
Jack's fiancee has called it quits on the night of his sister's engagement ball. Jack knows how much his sister has been looking forward to meeting his fiancee and can't bear to disappoint her. So when Samantha arrives with his tux it seems that all of his problems are solved. He hires Samantha to pose as his fiancee for his sisters party. Samantha doesn't feel like she belongs in his world but she really needs the money so she agrees.
Even though it was only pretending they couldn't ignore the "real" sparks that flying between them.
This book has it all! Heartwarming and funny. You feel like you really get to know the characters in this book. The sparing between the two of them will have you laughing out loud through the biggest part of this book.
Read this book, You won't be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fiancee for a while, April 1, 2001
Maybe I expected too much. Somehow everything fell a little short. The heroine is sweet, hard-working, and well-intentioned but not too smart, and the hero is kind of flat. He's rich, of course, and I gather he's nice for a rich man. Several secondary characters were quite annoying, especially the manager-cum-minister who preached at every opportunity, and the needy, demanding sister who never took no for an answer. Jack and Sam fall in love instantly, knowing nothing about each other. Such quick and superficial relationships leave me cold but probably would appeal to fans of the "Pretty Woman" school of romance: Jack is so free with his money that he doesn't mind spending 320$ for a cute bra & panties set. He'll even buy her four! Wow, not.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was greattttt!, August 27, 2002
I loved this book I was hooked to it the minute I started reading I love Sam and Jack's exchanges with one another Jack giving Sam money for "Charades" and her taking it for her own personal reasons reminded me a bit of my favorite movie Pretty Woman and that made stay up past my usual bed time to finish the whole book in one sitting. I recommand this book to everyone this is the first Patti Berg book I have read and it has made me a fan of her work. I plan to read the follow up stories to see what happens with Mike Jack's best friend and Lauren Jack's sister.

Something Wild is my next book

3.0 out of 5 stars Light & fluffy read, June 3, 2005
By
Sam is a down-on-her-luck (and out of work) actress, taking any job she can get to pay off a loan shark. By day she holds down several jobs, and at night, she sleeps in her car.

When rancher Jack Remington finds that his luggage has been lost, he has Sam bring a replacement tux to his hotel room to alter it for his sister's ball. Of course, just as Sam is arriving, the marriage-shy Jack is getting dumped by his fiance, and he finds himself in need of a replacement fiance to take to his sister's engagement party. He hires Sam and the two manage to fool everyone.

The two start to form an attraction, and though she continues to get tossed in to play the role of "Arabella," Sam never knows if Jack's romantic gestures are for show or for real. Jack does not know if Sam's gestures are for show either. Jack harbors pain from the death of his first love and mother of his estranged son that was born when he was 16.

I kept expecting a secondary romance to develop between Pastor Mike and Jack's oft-married sister, Lauren. Perhaps that is a whole different book...

3.0 out of 5 stars touching and sweet, but..., June 17, 2004
By A Customer
i really liked the first half of this book, but then it went downhill for me. the second half wasn't terrible or anything, but it just dragged. the big problem i think was samantha. that was the first problem. she was just too hardheaded about jack to the point it was insane and unbelievably frustrated. i just didn't believe it. that she would fall totally in love with a man who treated her so generously and only tried to help her (help she desperately needed!), and she still snapped at him and would cut him down. and the idea that he kept coming back for more? uh-huh, just wasn't buying it. but at the same time, Patti Berg has an endearing way of writing and making you still root for her characters, so even that alone wasn't enough to turn me off. This is where the second problem comes in. Lauren, Jack's sister. She was simply ANNOYING! honestly, i could find nothing to like about her. she was flighty, completely self-absorbed, basically the stereotypical heiress - think Paris Hilton. Literally Lauren's big concerns in this book were which dress and shoes to get for a party that was coming up, and she would talk incessantly about shopping (if that doesn't make someone tedious and devoid of enough mental stimulation i really don't know what does!) Also i think it was suppoised to be cute or charming the way she would constantly charge all her several-thousand-dollar-shopping-sprees to her brother Jack, even though Lauren was excessively wealthy in her own right. i hated that! i wondered what kind of person is this?

the first half of this book drew me in a lot, but then the second half let me down with some annoying and one-dimensional characterizations. i did however adore jack! he makes up for a lot.
