The Wife He Needs., September 21, 2003
You'll need a entire box of tissues.
Colleen James was badly injured when a truck came into the path of her car, her sister Sharon was killed.
Sharon and her husband Craig were apart at the time, as they were off and on in their marrage.
When the accident happened Craig turned to drink, and told his son Beau, Colleen killed his mother, and if she got the chance she would hurt his baby sister Amy.
Craig died and left his children in his brother Cade's care.
he told Cade Colleen had done everything in her power to break up his marriage to Sharon.
So when Colleen wrote to Cade asking to see the children, she received no reply.
So Colleen showed up on his door step barely able to walk, she had just gotten out of the hospital, from the accident.
Cade soon found Colleen to be sweet, and loving, he regreated listening to his drunken brother's lies, and tried to make a way for Colleen to get closer to her niece and nephew, then he asked her to marry him, for the children's sake. Soon Cade found he wanted Colleen for his own sake.
Cade learned Colleen came from a home where her mother was sick, and her father didn't care. Colleen's father brought a woman to there home and made his sick wife get out of bed and cook a meal for this woman, and the two girls were warned to be nice are they would be beaten.
There father finaly divorced their mother, but he sent just enough support money to keep their mother from going to court.
Sharon pushed Craig, trying his love to see if he would end up being like her father.
Colleen became shy and closed in on herself.
Cade grew to love this sweet shy woman, so did the kids.

The Wife He Chose by Susan Fox
Harlequin Romance #3668 - September 2001
4 Stars! ~ Colleen James became a shattered woman both physically and emotionally when the car she was driving was struck by a semi, killing her sister, a young mother to two small children; and crushing Colleen's body badly. While in intensive rehab, Colleen's brother-in-law drowns in a tragic accident leaving the two children orphans and in the care of their father's brother. It takes every ounce of strength Colleen has to travel the two hour car ride to the Chambers ranch, but Colleen has to find out if the children are alright. Her letters and phone messages have been unanswered, and she fears that she'll be forever barred from her only remaining family. Cade Chambers doesn't know what to make of the battered woman who appears at his door. He remembers his brother claiming Colleen didn't want anything to do with the Chambers family and he recalled how manipulative Colleen's sister had been in her marriage to his brother. But quickly Cade comes to realize that Colleen is the exact opposite of her sister and that she'd sacrifice everything to ensure the children were safe and happy. Watching his father's obsession with his mother, and then his brother's with his wife, Cade has vowed never to fall in love. He finds in Colleen all the qualities he'd like in a wife, and so he proposes, naming the welfare of the children as their prime concern and that this would be a common sense marriage.
Another heartwarming love story. Cade is a stand up guy. Once he realizes how wrong his brother had perceived Colleen and that he'd believed his brother, he quickly tries to fix things to make sure Colleen is back in the children's lives. He admires her and her willingness to sacrifice for others, even him. Colleen has suffered alot from the accident and from having to grow up too soon and practically be a mom to her sister. She's a strong character trying hard to hold on to her independence, though sometimes she protests too much when Cade tries to help. These are wonderful characters and I'm glad they found each other.

The Wife He Chose, February 1, 2012
The Wife He Chose by Susan Fox
Cade now is raising his dead brother and wife kids: Beau who is 3 and Amy who is 6 months.
Colleen, is his brothers sister in law, and she's returned to their town, still recuperating from the accident that killed her sister to check in with the kids as the one watching over them, Cade has yet to return her letter or phone calls. Beau only heard what his dad said before he died and blamed the accident on her-Colleen. It makes her faint and after the doctor leaves to check her out she goes
back to the hotel for the night with hopes of just going home the next day.
Cade comes to find her and takes her car key so she can't just disappear again and to explain why the child said what he did. He wants to honor her request by allowing her to spend some time with the kids and to be in their lives as they are her only living relatives now. He talks her into being at the ranch
to recuperate and getting to know the kids better.
Problem is the more time he spends with them he finds himself falling in love with her.
The nanny and Cade had once dated and she told him someday she'd be married to him. He'd have to set her straight now that Colleen was here.
